CHAPTER 1: "A Dream Unfolds"
"I'm standing there in my
dream, with no recollection of how I got there. It feels like I've stepped into a story that's already halfway unfolding. I'm beside a woman, yet I have no idea who she is. Despite the unfamiliarity, I sense a deep connection, as if we've known each other for years, and we're in love.
"The landscape stretches out before me, with towering mountains covered in lush greenery and a serene lake below that reflects the clear blue sky. I'm standing at the lake's edge, where a small canal has been built, and behind me, a bamboo dam stands, controlling the flow of water. The fish – lifeless and still – block the way.
"She's tending to the bamboo bridge, talking to me, but I don't catch what she's saying. Yet, I feel her words, sense the emotions behind them. She's speaking about our relationship, our future, and I'm lost in thought, imagining us together, calmly listening to her as we gaze out at the canal where a dead fish floats.
"Suddenly, big fish start flowing towards us, and she removes the side of the bamboo dam. The blocked canal bursts free, and she panics as the water rushes out, damaging the lower dam. I hold the other side of the dam and put a temporary bamboo mat in place, and the water calms down. We breathe a sigh of relief.
"A huge bloated fish appears, and I poke it with a stick. To my surprise, it's a swordfish. I wonder how it's ended up in the lake, but it's just a dream. Behind the dam, I see a bus stopped at the horizon. The woman speaks, saying she needs to return something to a passenger. She walks towards the bus, and I watch as four figures emerge from the bus.
"A sense of sinister intention was oozing from the figures approaching her, and I hurry towards the horizon, worried for her safety. She's terrified, her face filled with fear as she gazes at me, pleading for help without uttering a word. One of the figures grabs her hand, dragging her towards the bus, and I froze, paralyzed by fear and doubt.
"Just as all hope seems lost, a person emerges and saves her. I breathe a sigh of relief and approach them, thanking the person for saving her. As I get closer, I realize it's my elder brother. He looks disappointed in me, explaining that I should have acted sooner, fought my fears away.
"I wake up, checking my phone to see it's 8:02 AM. I've overslept, but the dream remains vivid in my mind – the love, the fear, the sense of brotherhood. It felt so real, like I lived it. All in a dream, my dream."
