Midnight Serenade

The stars seemed to shine extra bright this night, their beauty and light illuminating the beach and ocean. Moonlight cast a glow across the shore, making a beautiful yet mysterious scene. The sound of waves crashing against the shore filled the air, it’s sound both soothing and peaceful. A light breeze gently pushed the beach grass, creating a rustling sound that seemed to carry across the beach. From the ocean came sounds of sea life, some distant barks from a seal, the sound of whale song, and the sound of birds calling for their mates, the music of the ocean. James was content, he was enjoying the waves that crashed against the shore, while the wind blew through his hair. The moonlight was bright, illuminating the trees, grass, and the ocean as far as the eye could see. He thought about how lucky he was to find out about this beautiful spot. Out in the water, he sees a seal, he didn't think the night could get any better. But then a voice breaks the silent of the night. He looks over to see a beautiful girl, leaning against a tree, James feels a certain way he can't explain. He never felt this way about any girl before, he can't even explain to himself why he feels this way. Her voice was soft, and soothing, and the way her hair glowed up in the moonlight. Something about her made James feel a feeling of longing and peace. But he shakes it off, he just met this girl, he shouldn't feel this way right now, she's probably just being friendly. But he can't seem to shake this feeling, when she looks over at him she smiles. The smile he saw on her face was beautiful.. and.. it feels like she's looking at him a certain way. James finds his heart beating faster than normal, he's never felt so attracted to a person before. Is this feeling love.. ? As James continues to stare at Lily, he can't help but feel this feeling of love grow and grow in his heart. He never felt so strongly for anyone before. He doesn't know what to do. He looks back at her, and she looks back at him. The silence between them is deafening, James can’t think straight. He feels like he wants to kiss her, he feels their eyes linger a little longer. And then, he hears her voice. "Hey there.. my name is Lily.." Lily smiled shyly, her sweet voice broke through the silence He finally found the courage to speak up "Hello Lily, my name is James." His voice wavered slightly, still overcome by these feelings of love and attraction. She chuckled and said “I think I’ve seen you on campus before.” The sound of her laugh sent a chill down his spine, her laugh was beautiful. James is unsure of what to say next, he can't think straight. Lily then says "Have you always come to this beach, or is this your first time?" *He looks over at her and smiles 'I.. well, I come here a lot, I like it here..' he pauses '.. its peaceful, and I like the moonlight, it's beautiful. Lily lets out a little giggle "Yeah.. the moonlight is pretty. It makes this place feel magical and peaceful." She sighs "I don't usually come out here at night either, but I couldn't sleep and felt like coming out here to relax." They stare at each other for a few seconds, James just can't help but admire her beauty. Her flowing hair, her perfect skin, what a dream girl she is. Lily looks at James, her sweet hazel eyes lock on to his. She gives him a little wink, oh boy, what is this feeling James is feeling..? ..Lily smiles, she feels something about this boy. He's calm, collected, he keeps to himself at school like she does. She likes that about him. As the silence lingers, she gets closer to him and speaks up "Hey.." Lily stares a James, and they stay silent. There is a tension between the two of them. The sound of waves crashing against the shore grow louder. Lily finally speaks up again "James, can I tell you something?" Lily continues ".. I feel.. something for you.. I don't know what it is, I can't describe it, but you make me feel.. happy.." She feels her heart skip a beat as she admits to her feelings. She's never told anyone how she feels about them before but this is different. She doesn't feel nervous and shy like she normally does when talking to people. She feels like herself with James, she feels a feeling she never felt before. She doesn't want to lose him. A beat of silence took over as they stare at each other ‘James’s heart skips a beat. He doesn’t know how to respond, he’s never been in this situation before. He feels the same way about Lily, why did he fall for her so quickly? His mind races. He doesn’t want to mess this up. He opens his mouth to talk, but then he finds himself speechless. He doesn’t know what to say. They continue to stare at each other, their emotions are growing stronger by the second ‘Lily’s hand starts to move, her hand rests gently on his thigh, James just stares at her hand ‘it’s okay’ she whispers ‘it’s okay’ ‘Lily pushes her hair back, revealing even more of her face to be illuminated by the moonlight ‘come here’ she says ‘follow me’ she smiles as she leads him through the forest. Lily leads James deep into the forest. She walks slowly, taking in all the surroundings around her. The sound of birds chirping fills the air, the air is filled with a sense of peace and calm. Lily stops in front of a small clearing, and looks at James Lily’s face is beautifully adorned by the moonlight, James finds it hard not to just stare at her. He can tell by the way she is looking at him, that she has something important to tell him. Lily smiles sweetly and takes both of James hands inside hers. Lily looks deep into James’s eyes “I have a confession to make…” she pauses “You make me so happy..” she looks down at the floor. “I’ve never felt this way about anyone before..” Lily looks back up at him, and puts both her hands on the side of his face. She brings him closer to her, and whispers into his ear “kiss me.”
