Chapter three

979 Words
The dark room opened, and it smelled nauseating, like a mixture of various things, including alcohol. A figure walked into the room, plastering a wide grin on his face. He felt satisfied with the position he held her in. "Who the hell are you?" the voice retorted as she spoke to the shadow standing in front of her. There was no response, only a chuckle. He puffed on his cigarette and blew smoke towards the lady who was tied up in ropes. "Release her," the figure said, and the lady, who was once bound in chains, was freed. She was made to sit on the floor and she had lost all strength. It had been three days since she had gone missing, yet no one had decided to look for her. She felt betrayed and hurt. She started to cry when she felt a touch on her chin. "Don't touch me, get lost," she fired at the man she couldn't see. "Why are you hurting me? What did I do wrong?" the lady questioned, expecting a straight response from the man. She looked at him, and he chuckled in silence. "The lights," the man ordered, and as they switched on, the whole place was illuminated. "Julia," she called out as he stared at her emotionlessly. His usual aura stood there as he admired her face. "Yes, Theresa dear," he finally spoke as she let out another streak of tears that cascaded down her chin. "You don't have to cry, Theresa. I love you, and I can show all the affection you would ever need in this life," Julia said as he walked up close to the lady who had started to weep in pain. "Don't come any closer," Theresa shouted as she used all her strength to walk away from him. He pulled her by her hair and she whimpered in pain, tears rushing down her eyes as she looked at Julia, who didn't say a word. "I love you, Theresa," Julia was about to complete his words when a tight slap landed on his face from Theresa. "Don't you dare come any closer," Theresa said as she glared at the man standing in front of her. There was a stern silence, and for a minute, she thought she had won and he would let her go. Julia picked up his phone and made a quick call. In less than a minute, an old lady of over 40 years old walked in and bowed to Julia, who was already walking out of the room. "Theresa, if you can't be mine, you can be no one else's," Julia said angrily as he walked out of the room. "What the heck," Theresa said, still trying to fathom what she had just heard. Julia was her ex-boyfriend. He was loving, handsome, and cute. Over the years, he hadn't changed in appearance, but she wondered why he was behaving like a psychopath. They had already broken up. "My lady, please follow me," the woman who had walked in earlier said as she slowly bowed her head. Theresa followed her out of the dark room, perhaps Julia had come to his senses and allowed her to go. ******************* “Mr. Liam, please do well to sign the necessary documents. The more you linger on it, the more difficult it will be…” The lawyer hadn't completed his statement when Liam signed the documents. He heaved a heavy sigh as he stared at the document, giving it a last glance. He had successfully lost everything. Tears threatened to fall as the lawyer bade farewell. What would he tell his parents? Liam was in deep thought when his phone simultaneously rang. He stared at the caller ID, giving it a sharp glance. He seemed ready not to pick the call as he dropped the call. *** The morning rays of the sun illuminated into the room and it woke Maya up from the sofa. She looked tired and worked out, like someone who had been heavily burdened. Maya heaved a deep sigh as she stretched on her bed while trying her best to navigate her emotions. Her eyes traveled around the room as she spotted nobody there. It was as silent as usual. She was still trying to get her thoughts together when a soft knock landed on the door as the person seemed impatient to wait. The maid pushed the door open and she bowed briefly before talking. "Ma'am, we are to evacuate the mansion. The maids have left. We have 7 minutes." Maya sat upright on her bed as she looked at the maid who passed the information with fright. "What do you mean by evacuation? I don't seem to get it," Maya finally said after glancing at the maid. "Young madam, we have to evacuate, and that's now. We have to do it very fast. They are on their way," the maid said as she dashed to the wardrobe. Simultaneously, she picked a traveling bag as she kept swirling in whatever her hands could find. She was done packing as she stared at Maya, who stood looking so confused. Different questions glanced through Maya's head as she wondered what was going on. Liana was the oldest maid in Liam's mansion, and she knew the nooks and crannies of it. Maya was about to complete the thought in her head when another thought dashed through her head like the speed of light. Maya reluctantly went into the bathroom and she took a quick shower and wore a yellow gown. Though the gown wasn't long, it reached her knee length, and she looked quite mature in it. "Let's go," Maya said as she pulled Maya away. She was walking as fast as possible, like something was absolutely chasing her. She had said Mr. Liam had given her the order. "What the heck was going on?"
