Chapter four

1588 Words
The woman led Theresa to a large room, and she looked a bit puzzled. "Go and take a shower, dear," the woman said and Theresa slightly nodded. She was starving, and as she slowly walked towards the restroom, her stomach rumbled loudly. "I'm starving," Theresa confessed as she shifted her gaze from the lady who kept staring at her. "Have a seat, dear," the lady said and Theresa slowly sat down. There was a tap on the door and some maids came in with food. Theresa felt her belly swell as she ate the food and returned to the bathroom. She took a quick shower before leaving. The woman was about to step out of the room when Theresa said, "Ma'am, your name." "I'm Vinscasha, my lady," she let out a wide smile as she walked out of the room. Theresa was about to change into the dress that was in front of her when the door suddenly opened, and Julia stepped in. "What the heck are you doing in my room?" Theresa said as she looked at the man in front of her. *************** Liam had sent his chauffeur to pick Maya and the maid from the house, and they were quickly driven to the family mansion. An argument was going on when Maya walked in, and the maid stepped out. Maya looked confused; she obviously had a lot of questions to ask Liam. "Why would you say so, Liam? You went bankrupt all of a sudden, and you are here talking trash," a voice retorted as she looked at Liam with burning fury in her eyes. Liam Webster was the richest bachelor in the city of New York. He was a handsome, tall, and cute man. Girls drooled over him wherever he went, and the thoughts were about to get completed when the television finally switched on. It was all over the news, and the headlines were written: "MR. LIAM WEBSTER SUDDENLY GOES BANKRUPT." The look on Liam's face wasn't pleasing; he looked like someone who would burst out. "Dad, I tried my best," Liam said as his gaze was fixed on only one man, which was his father. A loud chuckle resonated from his father as he had a wide smile. "Son, you tried. Is that really the next thing to say?" Liam's father frowned as he stared at his son, who stood there. The whole mansion was filled with extended family members, and Maya could spot different unfamiliar faces. Whispers were flying in the air as most gazes were fixed on Maya, who kept staring at nothing in particular. "Such ill luck, she is married to a penniless man, he has nothing!" Another voice said as they all nodded their heads in agreement. Different whispers also flew by her ears as she tried her best to avoid them and focus on what was really happening. Different questions swirled through her mind as she looked around, trying to spot what was actually happening in particular. Had they actually gone bankrupt? Like, for real. She spotted Liam as he stood by his father's side, the tears which he wanted to hide lingered so much on his face like it was actually inevitable. “This is my verdict," Liam's father said as he looked at him, fixing his gaze on his face. “Liam and Maya have the privilege to stay in the mansion, but he would no longer have any right to anything pertaining to the company.” With his speech made, he walked away from the sitting room. Maya also left the house, and Liam followed behind her. She switched on her phone just to see the words, "BILLIONAIRE LIAM GONE BANKRUPT AND HE IS LEFT A PENNILESS MAN." She stared at him for a while before averting her gaze. "How come?" Maya asked as she glanced at Liam to give her a response. "How come what?" Liam said as he looked at Maya, and their gaze locked. ************ They were sitting at the dining table when Divallie kept making slight noises with her spoon. She looked like someone who was irritated by the food. "Hope no problem, Divallie?" her husband asked as he looked at her. She nodded her head in disagreement. Her thoughts and mind were filled with only one thing: her daughters. Both of them took different paths, and whatever they had planned earlier never worked out. Divallie was about to land the chopsticks in her mouth when her phone beeped. She looked at it smiling, hoping that it would be Theresa, not until she saw the news that Liam had gone bankrupt. The glass of apple juice she was going to drink went straight to the ground as it shattered on the floor, leaving nothing but the shattering sound and Divallie staring at her husband in shock. "What happened?" her husband asked, with a hint of worry in his eyes. Divallie sat right there, her gaze glued to the phone which she held in her hands. "Liam has gone bankrupt," Divallie declared as she stared at her husband, whose face turned pale immediately. They had gotten to the family mansion that belonged to Liam as they entered, seeing a full house. "Where is Mr. Earnshaw?" Maya's father requested as he spotted Liam, who didn't say a word as he pointed at the balcony. Mr. Angelo had gotten there already and he spotted Mr. Earnshaw, who was taking a sip of alcohol to clear his head. He let out a quick cough as he jolted Mr. Earnshaw back to reality. "My good friend," Mr. Earnshaw said as both men took a quick hug. They both smiled briefly before Angelo's smile turned weak. "How come the company went bankrupt?" Mr. Angelo suddenly snapped as he mentioned it. "Do you want my daughter Maya to sink into absolute poverty?" Mr. Angelo was going to continue his sentence not until Earnshaw tapped him on the back. He offered him a chair, and Mr. Angelo sat down quietly while they kept looking, a glass of alcohol was poured into his drink as they both clicked the glasses before they continued their conversation. There was an awkward silence as neither of them said a word, their attention fixed on the cup. "Your daughter won't stay in absolute poverty; I would make sure of that," Mr. Earnshaw said as he nodded briefly before walking away. That was the only thing he had to confirm; his daughter wasn't going to carry the cross of Liam's mistake. ***************************** Julia stood quietly as he didn’t say a word. Theresa stood right there looking at his face. He did grow more handsome as her gaze lingered on him. She moved to the bathroom and wore the singlets and shorts that had been arranged for her to wear. She was sure she had spent up to an hour there. Theresa just hoped she would no longer find Julia still waiting for her. Momentarily, she closed her eyes and stepped out of the changing room. Julia was still sitting right there with a huge smile plastered on his face. “You are looking beautiful, babe,” he commented as he stared at Theresa, who said nothing but looked at him in disgust. She had no idea how she got to his mansion. The last thing she remembered was stepping into the bathroom to take a quick bath. She had blanked out, and after that, she had found herself in Julia’s mansion. “How did I get here?” Theresa said as she glanced at Julia, who had nothing but smiles still plastered on his face. It was annoying. “What is funny?” Theresa said as she spotted Julia's face once more. Looking at him, she didn’t know what to say. “Julia, how the hell did I get here?” she thundered as Julia's smile faded to his normal aura. “As long as I live and breathe, Theresa, you are…,” he paused for a while as he kept his words hanging in the air. He stood up from where he sat, walking towards her. “Theresa, you are mine. You know I love you, and I can’t do without you. You are hurting me,” Julia said as tears lingered on his face once more. “Seeing you with another man hurts me, and since you are the only girl that would ever have my heart, I decided to bring you here,” Julia said as he kept caressing her hair, pulling each strand that fell on her face backward. “I was about to get married, Ju…,” she was about to complete her statement when Julia cut her off. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards his hard chest forcefully. Theresa could feel his heartbeat on hers as she stared at the man that she had once avoided his gaze so badly. He grabbed her waist forcefully and planted a tight kiss on her fragile lips. It was a passionate kiss that brought an alignment to the past years. He proceeded as the kiss was hot and driving. Suddenly, Theresa pushed him away and landed a tight slap on his chin. Another slap followed as she looked at him with a disgusted-filled face. “I hate you, Julia,” she said with a reddened face. “Do you really hate me that much, Theresa?” Julia thought inwardly as he spotted her reddened face. “I love you, and I won't stop until I make you mine.”
