Chapter 41 Less than an hour later, Frank stood sheltered under a tree from the continuous rain opposite the house where Maria’s friend, Rosie lived at Barnes Bridge. The autumn golden brown leaves scattered on the ground, an impressionist picture as if taken through a blurred camera lens. A policeman stood outside, draped in a waterproof overcoat, standing stoically on guard.
