CHAPTER 26 The tunnel is as light as the cave was, full of glowing algae, and the further I go, the brighter and denser the algae become. Eventually the tunnel opens out into another cave, slightly smaller than the first, but still brightly lit. In the centre is a large stone pillar, with worn carvings all over it. I scrutinise it carefully, pulling a face when I see that it’s showing one of the Droogans holding a spear up to a Humal--at least I think it’s a Humal; the carving is eroded, most of its body is missing. I touch it, forgetting that I can’t really feel anything in my vessel, then pull back quickly. I can feel something, but it’s not the course stone it’s made from.
