Prey and Predator: Mission – World One Activated
The apartment building in Blue Sea District has nine floors. Due to its affordable rent and well-equipped interior, many people are willing to move in.
The only drawback is that it doesn't have a closed-circuit television system installed. But with all its other excellent features, even this flaw hardly seems like an issue.
A woman carrying two bags filled with ingredients was walking toward her home.
She had a refined and approachable face, one that easily inspired instant likability. Her gentle eyes were framed by delicate brows, her lips were red and moist, and her mouth curved slightly upward as if smiling naturally.
"Oh, it's Lia again. What are you cooking today?" A middle-aged woman greeted her warmly, curiosity evident in her tone.
"Hello, Auntie Chen. I'm making sweet and sour ribs tonight because Kiki kept asking for them," Lillian Everleigh replied with a smile.
"Oh, so it's Kiki who wants the sweet and sour ribs? Kids these days really are picky eaters." The woman herself had a child too, and she could understand Lillian’s situation, muttering in mild complaint.
Lillian simply smiled without responding.
"Excuse me! Coming through!" A voice suddenly called from behind.
Instinctively, Lillian stepped aside and looked up — only to find herself caught in a pair of deep, dark eyes.
A man with a sharp, handsome face gave her a brief glance before walking straight past her. Behind him followed a group of workers carrying furniture.
It seemed he was the new neighbor moving in.
After the man disappeared from sight, Lillian said goodbye to the middle-aged woman and returned to her apartment.
As she approached her door, she noticed someone had already moved into the unit next door — the furniture movers were just stepping out.
Considering the situation, Lillian decided to go over and greet the man. It was only polite to introduce herself as a neighbor.
The door wasn’t fully closed, allowing Lillian a view of the inside.
The man was placing his sofa into position. He seemed highly perceptive — as soon as she stood in the doorway, he lifted his gaze directly at her.
Caught staring, Lillian offered a warm greeting: “Hi, I’m Lillian, your neighbor from next door. If you need help with anything, feel free to ask.”
The man stared at her for a moment. So long, in fact, that Lillian began to feel awkward. Then he finally straightened up and walked toward her.
Though Lillian wasn’t short, standing beside him made her feel small.
He was tall and broad-shouldered, likely around six foot two. His cold, sharp features exuded an aura of authority — powerful, dominant, and subtly dangerous.
He examined her from head to toe, his eyes flickering with something unreadable.
Lillian felt uneasy. Was it just her imagination? She couldn’t shake the feeling that his gaze had been predatory — like a wild animal sizing up its prey.
Just as she was about to say something else, he suddenly spoke: “Dominic Voss. Nice to meet you.” He extended his hand.
Lillian reached out and placed her hand in his. As their skin touched, she felt a subtle friction. She quickly looked up and found his expression still unreadable.
Maybe it was just her imagination after all.
Realizing it was getting late, she didn’t want to disturb him further. Smiling politely, she said goodbye and returned to her room.
Not long after she left, the man’s eyes darkened with a strange intensity. He repeatedly rubbed the fingers that had touched her.
Back in her room, Lillian shut the door behind her. The warmth in her eyes faded, replaced by a glint of quiet joy.
She was a transmigrator — in her original world, she had a rare physical constitution that attracted a psychopath who imprisoned her for nine years, nearly breaking her mentally.
Bound by a system, she now had to travel between worlds, seducing male protagonists to earn points. And every single one of those protagonists was a blood-stained, dangerous man.
During those nine years of captivity, she had somehow grown addicted to the feeling of being controlled, of being forced — only under extreme circumstances did she truly feel alive.
This was her first world after the transmigration. It belonged to a suspense novel universe. The male lead, Dominic, appeared to be a successful CEO, but secretly, he was a ruthless murderer.
Looking for relaxation and excitement, he chose an apartment building as his crime scene — specifically targeting Blue Sea Apartment, which lacked surveillance cameras and had a high population density.
After moving in for more than half a month, he started selecting victims — and among them was Kiki, the daughter of the original world’s protagonist.
In the original plot, Dominic stopped after killing four people — including Kiki — believing that four was enough. To avoid exposure, he framed the original protagonist, Kiki’s mother, causing her to take the blame.
Poor and helpless, no one believed her. Eventually, she hanged herself in prison.
Only after the protagonist’s death did the female lead, Sula — a psychologist — finally appear. Suspecting foul play, she began investigating with her police boyfriend, eventually becoming entangled in a twisted love-hate relationship with Dominic.
Chopping garlic calmly, Lillian hummed a cheerful tune, clearly pleased by something.
Who will win in the end?
Still uncertain.
