Chapter Eleven

“Luna,” Ivy wiped her head towards the group of pups seated by the corner of the pack clinic. “Kiddies,” She chuckled, retracing her steps back to them. “Luna,” The youngest shrieked and threw herself into Ivy. “Now, what are you up to?” She planted a kiss on her head and sat by them. “Ivy,” She raised her head at her name. It was a middle aged woman walking towards her while carrying Little Betty in her hands. Little Betty had been brought to the pack clinic this morning at the verge of death but by the help of the goddess, she was fine now. “I want to thank you for your help this morning,” The woman gave a small bow. “It's nothing really,” Ivy commented and looked away. “I know it's nothing to you but Betty is all I have left. Thank you for saving her,” The woman continued. “The goddess saved her,” She stated. “She used you,” The woman insisted and Ivy nodded with a tight smile. “It's okay. She would be fine,” Ivy leaned in and patted the girl's head, making the girl lean into her touch. The woman bowed once more before stepping out. “How do you do that?” A sickly boy asked from behind her. “I don't know. I really don't know,” She muttered quietly. “She's the Luna. My father said all Lunas possess healing abilities,” Another pup chipped in and Ivy froze. Luna? Only she knew she was not yet a Luna. Not with Zeke's constant rejection. “That's enough,” She stood up. “Let's head in for your drugs,” She instructed and the children nodded. As she turned to lead them in, her eyes caught sight of a figure standing behind a pillar, trying to make himself invisible. When he noticed she had seen him, he made to leave but it was too late already. “Stoneheart,” Ivy called out with a grin as she watched a grimace spread across his face. Everyone whipped their heads towards Zeke and bowed hurriedly. She turned to the kids “Why don't you follow Aunt Lila in first, I would be back before you know it,” She winked. “You want to have alone time with Alpha Zeke?” it was the sickly boy again. Ivy blushed and looked away. “Alone time huh?” She grumbled. If only it was that easy. “ I just want to see him for a moment,” Her face was getting redder by the moment. It was the boy's turn to wink at her and her lips twitched. “Alright kids, let's go,” The lady referred to as Aunt Lila said and led them in. With the kids gone, Ivy put on a smirk and turned her gaze to Zeke. “Here you are,” She walked up to him, hands placed on hips. “You should be with the pups now right?” Zeke squinted his eyes. “You don't get to tell me what to do and how to do them,” She tilted her head. “I've been with them since morning, I figured you might need some of my time,” She grinned naughtily. Zeke's ears turned a slight shade of red. “I don't need your time,” He groaned. “Oww, really?” She took a step closer to him. “Now tell me who was so starved that he came over to watch me work even when he insisted I'm not his mate,” She clicked her tongue. “You–” Zeke glared at her. “You look cute when you're flustered,” She smiled and Lucas walked in. “Luna,” He greeted and she nodded in response. “Back to you,” She turned her attention to Zeke. “Are you guys in the midst of something?” Lucas asked. “Ehm…” Ivy stuttered. “I don't have anything important to tell him. He's all yours,” Lucas chuckled and stepped a distance away from them. “Lucas…” Zeke gritted his teeth. “Don't tell me you prefer him to me?” Ivy asked with drooping eyes. “What do you want Ivy?” Zeke asked, rolling his eyes. “You.” She replied without hesitation and Zeke frowned. “Okay, okay,” She sighed. He was such a hard block to get past. “What do you know about my parents?” She asked. “I know nothing,” Now it was Zeke's turn to look away from her. “Keeping stuff from me won't help us, you know?” She pressed closer against his chest. “Ivy step back,” He growled lowly. “And what if I don't want to?” She raised an eyebrow. “What are you trying to prove?” He asked and took some steps away from her. “I should be asking you that. What on earth are you trying to prove, Zeke?” She asked, her nose flaring in anger. “Do you know what would work for the both of us?” He asked. “It's when you f*****g accept the rejection and we end the so called mate bond,” He snapped at her. “And that's not happening. That's not f*****g happening, not now, not ever,” She spat out, matching his tone of voice. “And that's wrong with you. You think you're smarter than everyone.” He threw his hands up. “I don't think I'm smarter than anyone, but in this Stoneheart, I'm smarter than you.” She stated. “What? What do you know?” “I know that I'm not ready to give up on the bond because of whatsoever you think or anyone think that you can't even share. I'm ready to fight for the bond.” She said. “There's no bond to fight for Ivy! You should wake up. I'm not your mate,” “The mate bond says otherwise. And that's where you're wrong. That's where I'm smarter than you.” She noted. “It's hard talking to a wall anyways, you would never understand,” “I won't. I would never understand when you aren't even telling me anything,” She rolled her eyes. Zeke shook his head and stormed off. “You've finally succeeded in getting under his skin and pushing him away,” Lucas stepped closer to her. Her lips pulled up into a victorious smile. “He can't stay away, his wolf won't allow it,” She assured, patting his shoulders.
