“Zeke” The door of the office swung open and Lucas stepped in, a bounce on his gait.
“What?” Zeke narrowed his eyes.
“I have both good news and bad news” Lucas said, the smile on his face faltering.
“Good news first”
“Ivy is healing the pups! The pups are healing! I don't know how she's doing it” He rambled, his smile returning to his face.
“Bad news?” Zeke frowned and Lucas smile dropped.
“Ivy is in trouble” He looked away.
“What do you mean?” Zeke eyes flew wide open, his legs moving faster than his brains.
“A sick pup caught her arms when she tried to attend to him and she can't change to her wolf because…” Lucas trailed off as he followed after Zeke.
“Why can't she change?” Zeke's voice was urgent.
“She hadn't changed once. She has a dormant wolf” Lucas replied.
Zeke's hands hovered over the doorknob “Dormant?” He asked, his eyes narrowing into slits.
“Yes” Lucas nodded as Zeke pushed the door open, walking into the clinic.
His eyes roamed around the clinic before landing on Ivy. He took quick steps towards her, watching the little wolf. His teeth held Ivy's arm and blood dropped slowly from the injury.
“Let her go” Zeke ordered and the wolf bared his teeth at him.
“Mate” Zeke's wolf growled in a low voice, trying to break loose.
“Be calm, I'm handling this” He needed to suppress his alpha voice to avoid his wolf breaking out.
The scent of Ivy's blood hit his nostrils and he groaned.
“LET GO OF MY MATE” His high pitched alpha voice bounced off the walls of the clinic, his eyes were a fierce red and his voice sent the pup flying, crashing against the wall.
“Mate” Ivy gaped at him, eyes wide opened as the word ringed in her head.
Zeke crossed the distance between them in two long stride and kneeled beside her, the wound was closing quickly and he heaved a sigh of relief.
“Check the pup out Lucas” Zeke finally ordered and Lucas moved immediately.
“Let's go” He picked her up as he walked out of the clinic.
His thoughts were jumbled, it seemed that Ivy's presence were helping the sick pups recover. The illness was slowly making its way out of the pack and the numbers of healed pups increased.
“Mate?” Her voice pulled her out of his thoughts.
He looked down at her, she had a careless smirk on her face and her eyes glistened.
“It's my wolf” Zeke replied.
“He recognize me as his mate, why are you being difficult?” She asked, the smirk still on her face.
“His thoughts are jumbled” Was Zeke's reply.
“Excuses!” She spat out before looking away.
“We are here” Zeke dropped her gently on the couch.
He took a look at the now healed injury and sighed again.
“You didn't tell me your wolf was dormant” He accused.
Ivy tensed and she moved away, her eyes looking anyway but him.
“You didn't need to know” She finally said.
“I didn't need to know right?” He scoffed. “You cling to me calling yourself my mate but I don't need to know”
“You rejected me” She half-yelled.
“You refused the rejection and till you accept, you're still my mate and I get to know everything about you” Zeke spat before the words he said dwelled on him. He coughed nervously before clearing his throat.
“Your Mate. I like that” The smirk returned to her face.
“Forget I said that” He muttered.
“I can't forget something as good as that” She smiled.
“The mate bond is messing with my brain” He said.
“You…”
“Why didn't you say anything?” He asked.
“I'm sorry” She mumbled.
“You better be” He rolled his eyes before walking over to his seat.
“So tell me everything” He stretched on the chair.
“When we welcomed our wolves at 16, mine didn't come out. My grandmother said it was because of a curse by the moon goddess due to my parents” She said, her voice was falling low. “That's why I need to know about my parents” She added.
“So?”
“You didn't grab the parents part?” Ivy scoffed, her voice frustrated.
“Continue your story first” He said.
“Alright” She rolled her eyes. “She came months ago, you remember that time the petals glowed?” She asked and Zeke nodded.
“I felt her slightly but not fully so two weeks ago, the morning you sent me to the kitchen, I felt her move but I've never seen her” She said.
“Never?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, I saw her in my mind eye and she was so pretty” Ivy smiled and at that moment Lucas walked in.
He glanced at Zeke before looking giving a polite smile at Ivy.
Zeke caught the clue. “You should leave Ivy” He said.
“What?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.
“You can walk right?” Irritation was beginning to show in his tone.
“Alright! Alright! You just wanted to get information and dump me” She said in irritation as she stormed off.
“That's not it” Zeke mumbled under his breath.
“What's wrong?” Zeke asked immediately Ivy was out of earshot.
“The pup said he saw her as a Luna” Lucas said in a grave voice.
“A Luna?” Zeke took a shaky breath.
“Her Luna power Zeke. It's beginning to come out” He said.
“Her wolf began to move recently” Zeke said.
“It's your Alpha power feeding to her strength” Lucas noticed.
Zeke laid back on the chair, ruffling his hair. “Something must be done” He said.
“We have only two options” Lucas offered, taking a seat.
“It's either you finish the rejection process or you accept her fully” He added.
“We need to reject her and you know that”
“You also know you can't” Lucas sighed.
“It's needed” Zeke growled.
“Well Ivy don't think that way and Zeke you should follow your heart instead of duties”
“I'm…”
“The bond is becoming even stronger despite the rejection. Fate has its own plan so you should follow it” Lucas spat and turned around walking out.
“Goddess help me” Zeke prayed as he closed his eyes.
