Chapter Nineteen

920 Words
That day went by in a blur, Ivy deliberately skipped dinner so she wouldn't see Darius. He had sent someone to bring her over for royal dinner but she had made a lame excuse to avoid it. Her head still banged with the fact that she had recklessly given away too much. And she didn't know how. She was going to find out anyway. She stalled behind in the clinic all day till they were about to close for the day and that was when she left. The door closed shut against her and she heaved a sigh of relief. First day, done. She didn't know how long she would be able to avoid him but she was sure to try for as long as she can. Pushing her body off the wooden door, she strutted farther into the house. She had dinner with the pups but yet, her stomach complained in hunger so she headed towards the kitchen for a late night snack. It was time for bed, the note -Do not trust easily - still sat pasted at the wall in which she had placed it when she left. She didn't get a clue about who sent it. She sighed and slumped on the bed, pushing her body into a sitting position on the bed. Let's cross together, hands outstretched. “Hey misty,” She chuckled and she could hear the wolf shift inside her. “It's exhausting, you know.” She started. Misty was the only being she was sure to tell her problems to when Tessa wasn't available. A stray tear walked down her cheeks. “Why's Zeke acting so hard to break. It's exhausting,” She complained but was met by an eerily silence. “Ouch, you're quiet too,” She chuckled softly and wiped her eyes. That's when she felt it. A burning white heat shot through her bones, her eyes snapped close immediately and she could feel misty taking control of her body - but not enough to change. When the pain subsided, she snapped her eyes open but she couldn't see her familiar couch, couldn't feel her weight on the soft bed. Instead, she felt grasses all over her. With eyes widened in shock, she looked around her surroundings. She was surrounded with grasses. She tried looking ahead of her but all she could see was blurry. As if it was submerged in dew. “What's this?” She asked softly. She felt her hands over the grass and pulled herself up, eliciting a sharp pain in her knee. “Misty,” She whispered. Silence. The sound that followed hit her immediately like a rush of waves. The sound of a fire cackling. When she looked up in the sky, thick billows of smoke covered the sky, turning the sunny sky into a moody white atmosphere. “f**k,” She tried moving. “Look clearly,” Misty's voice from inside her chest. Ivy's head snapped ahead and she saw it. A building. Standing isolated in the smoke - created night. Swallowed by hot, rolling, orange tongues of fire. She ran. Past the trees. Past the thorns tugging at her shirt and biting into her skin. “Where's this? Where's Zeke? He should be here by now, he's the alpha after all,” She panted when she got closer and stopped to catch her breath. She tried taking another step but discovered to her dismay that her legs were stuck to the ground. “Misty,” She whispered in barely contained rage. “What the hell are you doing?” “It's not in your place to act. You're here to see and know what happened not save lives,” “People are inside and are dying,” Ivy replied. As if you confirm her thoughts, an heart wrenching sound of a woman, trapping in the fire, probably being licked by their tongues echoed over the trees. “Misty,” She called again. “It's already past. You can't save them. You just have to know what happened,” Misty replied. It dawned on Ivy immediately. “Wait, the alpha couples fire?” She asked in wild disbelief. She felt misty nodding. The fire cackled away. Her eyes fell on a figure at the treeline, obscured by green grasses and the tall trees. His cloak floated in the air behind him. His eyes reflected the fire - that ivy was sure due to the concentration he possessed. He stared at the burning house and heard the screams but didn't move. Made no attempt to. He was still. Almost like a stone. He was silver-haired. Ivy jolted out of whatever she was in. A trance, vision or dream. That didn't matter much. The only thing that mattered was Black cloak, silver-haired. She reached out again, but this time not for misty, but for Tessa, through the pack's link. Tessa arrived exactly five minutes later, gasping for breath as she pushed the door open. “What's wrong Ivy?” She asked immediately she noticed her pale face. “It's misty,” ivy replied simply and pulled Tessa to the bed before filling her on what she saw. “Wow, that's…” Tessa looked away. “Did you get a glimpse at his face. The figure you saw?” Tessa asked. “No, I didn't. But he had a black cloak on and he was silver-haired.” Ivy replied. “Silver haired?” Tessa shrieked before slapping her hand over her lips. “Like Darius?”
