Upon seeing her door has been opened, Mrs. Chandler quickly rushed to go inside the house but was surprised to see her daughter lodging herself at the couch. She heaved a deep sigh before walking towards her sleeping kid.
"She must be tired. I should cook something," Elise Mom's mumbled as she went through the kitchen and decided to cook her daughter some home-made soup.
The ruckus of some pan and the running of water at the sink woke Elise up. She wiped her drool first before getting off from the couch and going to the kitchen. Seeing her mom, Elise smiled. She went behind her from and hugging her lovingly.
"Why did you go here that you don't even have enough money? You know you should be just resting while waiting for some good news."
"Mom," Elise whined before shoving her face deeper on her mom's back.
"Why. It's true though."
"It's just half an hour to reach here. Besides, I missed you. I've been so stressed out lately and I really want something to ease this out."
"Aw, that's why," Nelly faced her daughter.
"I guess no one wants to get you," Mrs. Chandler teased but all Elise did was to pout. She was a bit hurt realizing it but even though it's her tenth or even twenty times to get a job, a better and a decent job, Elise won't give up.
"Just wait me at the living room. I'll call you if I finished cooking," said Nelly softly. Elise nodded before letting her mom go and going back to the living room.
Elise went home after hours of chatting with her Mom and because she still has some cash, she handed some of it to her mom but that was almost rejected, good thing she still insisted to give it, her Mom has no choice but to accept her daughter's blessing for her. Elise also mentioned that Jake gave her a cash. Mrs. Chandler only laughed by her son's cute but lovely antics.
When Elise got home, she first visited an open through food truck and while eating her order, she opened some of the online jobs in case no one would really accept her to some given big company she applied on.
She will groan everytime someone would move her table or even brushing themselves on some chair that circled her table.
"Alright calm down you b***h. You prolly look like an ogre now," Elise whispered to herself.
Her head suddenly moved when she felt her phone vibrated over the table. She was expecting something good would even appear on her screen but her mood immediately changed when she saw what the JL Corporation send her.
"What a bunch of yahoos. Can't even appreciate a young and sweet lady," Elise snarled.
She was staring at her phone for a long time and her face quickly turn into an unhappy one. Earlier, Elise was upset to see the email but realization hit her that immediately turn her to a sad little girl.
"I think... I don't deserve Mom's hard work," Elise uttered.
She stood up from sitting and went to throw her cup off the garbage bin. She decided to go home with an unreadable expression on her face. She doesn't even care if people pity her and that is what happening right now. People on the bus can sense her sad atmosphere that all people can do was to tighten their lips feeling a bit down to her.
The whole ride was in silence. This wasn't her first time tasting the rejection but she can still reminisce vividly how it made her feel down once she knew no one even wants her to be their employee.
Once she entered her condo, Elise went to lie on the couch and minutes later, she can feel herself sobbing on the pillow. No one would comfort her but she tried to ease it but yet it keeps on coming out. Her tears were pouring that she did not notice she was dozed up from being physically and mentally tired.
When Flore arrived home, she was surprised to see Elise who still on her new clothes, she also noticed dried tears on her bestfriend's cheeks that made her realize something bad happened.
Flore decided to cook the dinner and went to woke Elise up.
"Babe, wake up," Flore whispered to her ear. Elise moved a bit but her eyes were still closed.
"I bet that company rejected you, again. Hays, I wish I could help to ease this pain but I can only help you financially and to comfort you," Flore mumbled to herself while staring at her friend.
When Elise gain her consciousness, Flore was lying at the other side of the couch while using her phone.
"Flore, I'm sorry I dozed off."
"It's fine. I noticed something. Did... did something you know..."
Elise smiled sadly.
"Yeah. Again, I was rejected. I guess I should stick to your plan applying at Benedict's company."
"You sure you won't be awkward-"
"He's not my ex so why would I feel awkward around him. He's just that little shy boy whose sticking on my butt before," Elise laughed a little.
"Girl, Benedict had his glow up. He's on his perfect build and don't even look down at him. Try searching him online or maybe try searching H&T Mobile Company. You could see he's not the skinny at shy Benedict you know back at colleg."
Elise laughed a little, "Oh my, what kind of college story is this."
"I don't know," Flore giggled.
"Alright but when?" Elise asked.
"Well if you want we can do it at Saturday but if you are in a hurry, you can go anytime."
"I'll go at Friday," Elise smiled.
"Okay but stop worrying alright," Flore said.
Elise smiled cheerfully. They decided to have a dinner before one of them goes to their home assignment.
Four days latterly passed, Elise was getting ready again like what they planned this passed days and hoping, her college school mate's higher employee would accept her.
The both of them, her and Flore was texting each other while was riding her way to the other side of the city. Elise was a bit tense about the job but she was also hoping this time she would be accepted.
When she reached the place where H&T Company was located, Elise was amazed by how elegant the building was. When she stepped in, Elise felt she was in a hotel when she saw the interior.
Elise made her way to the receptionist and quickly asked for a job. The woman pointed her the way to the HR department and after getting inside Elise immediately passed her resume to the fat old woman .
"So, any experience?" asked the lady.
"I'm a fresh graduate but I assure you I'll do good," Elise smiled. Honestly, she's not anxious, it's just the lady infront of her was giving her a sharp look that anyone could be drawn scared.
"Where did you graduate?"
"Columbia University."
Elise gulped seeing the woman's expression. It's not likely for her to witness something like that but to be honest, it's making her anxious.
“What can we expect from a beginner like you?"
“I have no experience in this field, but I can assure you that I'll be giving out my best in this job."
The woman in front of her frowned when suddenly a tall figure came inside of the room.
"Excuse me Ma'am. We are kind of short in the HR department and we need two or three more people."
That sentence made Elise's heart happy. She is now sure she'll be getting the job in no time.
"Then you're hired Miss Chandler."
