The moment we step into the kitchen, the first person we see is Celine. She is at the dining table eating alone. Even Smith isn't around to tend to her.
Seeing her, Mia goes very stiff. So stiff I can smell her fear. That inexplicably makes me feel annoyed instantly. How dare Celine do that to her?
“Hi, Mum. H-how are you doing?” She asks with a little stutter.
“Where are you coming from?” Celine asks in a small, but stern voice, reeking with disdain. This is the first time I will see her use such an assertive tone. She has always been surfing between coy and cautious.
So this is how she is with Mia. No wonder Dad told her to stay away from the girl.
