Jaxon's POV
The car ride was quiet, filled with Erin's anger. Her jaw was closed so tight I thought she might break a tooth. I kept my eyes on the road, thinking about Jane's surprised face. I had messed that up badly.
The moment we drove into the driveway, she blew up.
“What was that all about, Jaxon?” Erin's voice was full of anger. “Don't tell me she's just a friend. That's not how friends look at each other.”
I turned off the engine and looked at her. I spoke quietly, like I was telling a kid something simple. “Erin, relax. She's just someone I work with. You know, for all the new deals.”
“Business partner?” she said, laughing, her hands going up in surprise. “When do business partners look at each other like that in public? You were almost staring, Jaxon!”
