The chatter around us faded into a soft buzz as Erin’s intense stare locked onto me. “You seem… familiar.” she said, her voice smooth and chilling. She tilted her head, examining me like I was an object in a lab. “Have we met before?”
Jaxon, who was talking with Dante about a silly business idea, stopped suddenly. His eyes, which used to show warmth for me but now seemed distant, turned to me.
