Episode 9 New Beginning 3 Logan

Logan and Mia moved in together not long after their official engagement, Mia's mother bought them a beautiful 3 floor penthouse on New York's most expensive street Billionaires Row. Mia couldn't afford to chip in for anything because her mother decided to relocate her trust fund before she could gain control of it as insurance that she would marry Logan and wouldn't back out at the last minute. This made it very difficult for Mia to get schools things done without the funds, she couldn't rely only on her salary from Lexington Software since she was interning there now. Logan knew Mia was working hard to get her degree and the last thing she was thinking about was having kids but he needed to make sure she was pregnant by the end of their married year, it was the only way to guarantee she wouldn't go anywhere even if she found out some unsavoury things he had done. Logan and Mia had began living like a real couple but they still slept in different rooms, Logan wanted her to grow accustomed to their relationship before s*x became a thing but he also knew without her being pregnant nothing could guarantee she wouldn't back out of the wedding. "Hey do you want to go grab dinner at the new place on 5th?" Logan asked Mia, she was so focused on what she was doing it took a while before she responded, "I would love to but I can't, I have to redo this entire assignment because I can't afford to fail this class literally. With my mom having "relocated" my trust fund I don't have the money to pay for this class a second time, I'm sorry maybe we can go tomorrow". Logan felt really frustrated, he understood that Mia was always independent even with a trust fund she wasn't one to splurge on unnecessary things like most billionaire's daughters and daddies’ princesses and she was a daddy's princess but she liked being able to take care of her self and wouldn't want to suggest that she couldn't so he chose his words carefully when he replied " look" he said taking a sit next to her and waiting so she could turn her attention to him "I know you're used to taking care of yourself and that you've always had your own money so you never relied on a guy or friends, but circumstances are different now. Mia I am your partner, your fiancé and in little while we're going to be married, you need to understand that my money is your money. I get the need for independence I mean I haven't lived with anyone since my parents in high school, so I know what freedom feels like but things are different now and when we are married and you have your money you can do whatever you like with it, just let me take care of you for now not because I can but because I want to". Mia smiled at him and kissed him hard, it was nice that he said that because things were changing question is for better or worse?

Mia and Logan went to meet with Logan's mother Helena Charles Rexford and the wedding planner to get started on the wedding preparations, Mia had made it clear she didn't want a big wedding but Logan's mother insisted it be at least a thousand guests and Mia compromised. Logan wanted to give Mia the wedding of her dreams and he knew his mother was impossible so she and Mia would butt heads a lot and he wanted to be very far away when that bomb went off. When Logan's mother brought up Alex he figured it was time to leave before the bomb exploded "You know Mia I am so glad you and Logan decided to stop playing your games and finally get married, I always thought you might end up like that girl...Christian's cousin, she was always a flake and will probably end up pregnant and alone I hope you're not still friends with her", his mother did always know how to kill a mood. Unlike most girls he knew Mia never let Logan's mother bulldoze her since she was a teen, she always stood her ground so he knew she could handle his mother he was the one who couldn't handle all the fighting about table setting and flowers so he answered a phone that wasn't ringing and made an excuse to leave "I'm sorry I can't stay any longer I have an important meeting about buying out a property investment company" Logan said kissing him mother then Mia on the cheek.

A few days later Logan was sitting in his office reading an SMS his mother had sent him telling him of some unflattering comment Mia made about her, he had no idea whether or not to respond because chances are she was right. Logan remembered that Mia and his mother never really got along, Mia always referred to his mother as a snooty stuck up b***h with a stick up her ass "I'm in real trouble" he said to himself. "I'm glad some things don't change" a voice coming from the open door said, Logan turned around and couldn't believe his eyes. He gasped for air a few times, there was no way he was seeing things correctly, maybe he was having a nightmare or about to be living one. Logan stood up and headed to the door, he looked outside to make sure no one was out there before closing and locking the door. "Your rude little assistant Amber was sent on a very long and rather tedious errand, she won't be back anytime soon" the voice said. Logan's mind was jumbled with a lot of questions and there were a lot of emotions he felt right now the strongest being fear, that wasn't something he felt often. "What are you doing here Emily?" He asked, with a slight smirk she replied "I don't think that's what you want to ask, I think what you would like to know is how I'm alive".

Smiling her evil smile Emily went to sit down on one of the sofas, Logan went to stand behind his chair not sure he could process what was going on. How was she alive? They buried her four years ago he identified the body himself , this has to be someone's cruel attempt at a joke. With venom in his tone he asked "who the f**k are you are why do you look like my dead wife?", "well you must have some serious enemies who would play this kind of joke on you, but unfortunately for you it isn't a joke." Emily said to Logan, she continued "you tried to kill me Logan, but as it turns out some ghosts have a hard time staying dead", she paused letting him process before she went on "You tried to bury me with your secrets and dirty deeds, you and your group of crooks. Speaking of crooks how is Hunter these days? Still can't get it up?". Logan had no idea what to say, he was still in shock and this was too much to process especially for him. He wasn't ready to face his demons but now they were back to haunt him so he had to deal with them, she was right he might have not pulled the trigger himself but he was as responsible for her death as the person who did except she wasn't dead. Logan realised then that with Emily back he had a lot to lose more than he had four years ago, he had Emilia and she couldn't find out what kind of man he really is so he asked "What do you want Emily? Why are you here?". Emily smiled and got up, she looked at him thinking for a few seconds before she said "I'll be in touch Logan, good to see you're still up to no good", and she left just as she came like a ghost.

Logan needed to find a way to get in touch with Emily but he knew that would be next to impossible because she didn’t want to be found so he decided to go home and just forget about his week. Things were going so well with Mia and she was leaning on him more not just financially but emotionally and he knew then that this marriage would work he just had to find a way to deal with his recent problem. Logan got home and took a shower, when he got out he saw a text from an unknown number saying answer the door. Logan put on some sweatpants and t-shirt and went to answer the door, he first checked his tablet only to see Emily politely smiling at the camera and point at her watch so he opened the door. Emily went in walked to the lounge and sat down “Don’t worry you still have at least 30 minutes before your fiancé gets to the building and maybe 5 more to get up here even with a private elevator". Logan was quiet for a while and walked to the bar to make himself a drink “you want something to drink?” Logan asked Emily, “No thank you” she replied with a chuckle he said “Oh come on I won’t poison you". She could always anticipate Logan's next move and that was going to make it difficult for him to get rid of her “I wish I could say I believe you but we both know that would be a lie" said Emily. Emily Cavanaugh Rexford was the only known daughter of late mafia boss Dexter Cavanaugh who incidentally was killed by Logan so he could take over his company and territory, Emily was never supposed to find out the truth but she just had to dig and when Hunter found out he simply put a bullet in her no questions asked. Emily was always a wild girl, unlike most mafia daughters she knew about her dad's illegal business and she did her best to blow the money until she met Logan. Logan was this amazing rich bad boy who was lost and looking for something, anything little did she know he knew exactly where he was going. “Why are you here Emily? Why now? You’ve had four years to get your revenge and yet you did nothing so why now?” Logan asked Emily she raised a brows and chuckled “Oh Logan you know why I’m here, speaking of which how is the Lovely Emilia she is very beautiful I have to admit she certainly is her father's daughter". Emily got an SMS and checked it with a smile she said to Logan “Your fiancé is downstairs now you could tell her who I am or we could be in a…compromising position when she walks in your choice", it really wasn’t much of a choice because they both knew he wouldn’t pick the former. When the door opened Mia found A beautiful blonde in the arms of her fiancé with a very guilty look on his face.

Logan spent the next few days trying to keep up his normal routine, aside from the secret meetings with his partners in crime or crooks and Emily refers to them his father Hunter Rexford, friends Paul Sutton and Christian Belmont everything else was business as usual. When he told them that Emily came to visit him in his office they thought he was joking “Look son we all appreciate that you've got a lot on your plate with work and the wedding coming up but this isn’t something to joke about, what happened to that girl though necessary was still very tragic”, Hunter said to Logan. “Oh I am so glad you recognize just how tragic it was since you’re the one who shot her but this is not a joke, what I can’t seem to figure out is why now? She had four years to come back but she chose to do it now so why?” Logan said, It was a very good question. Logan hadn’t thought about Emily in a long time, he had almost forgotten she even ever existed because things were going good with Mia but now their world was about to be turned upside down. Logan couldn’t make any moves without the guys they were all screwed if Emily talked “Tell Mia the truth before she finds out from Emily, she might never forgive you but she will still marry you Grace will make sure of it.” Christian said, but Logan didn’t just want to marry Mia he wanted her to love him and if she ever knew the truth she would never love him. Hunter was against Christian's suggestion “If you tell Mia and she cancels the wedding she becomes a liability, and I’m sure you remember what happened to the last liability seeing as she is back to haunt us", Hunter had a point, Mia was too much of a good girl to be trusted with such things or so they thought. “Hold off on doing anything, let me find out what she's been up to the last four years and do not lay a hand on her Hunter because we don’t know what she has. If she is here because of what we're all thinking she might have proof and that wouldn’t boat well for us so lay off for now, Logan I suggest you use your charm to get the info out of her. You know which buttons to press, hell sleep with her if necessary just make sure you know what she has so we take some precautions but do not lead on that you’re using her otherwise she will do something stupid. That girl has always been a little unstable, you sure know how to pick’em, sorry Christian no offense intended for your lovely Emilia.” Said Paul. “f**k you Paul, and you" Christian said pointing at Logan “I told you not to drag her into this but you just couldn’t listen, every woman you touch ends up a psycho or they already were a psycho", “like Genevieve” someone said “Case and point, psycho but Mia is a good girl and she doesn’t deserve to pay for your f**k ups, you should’ve just left her alone now Alex is gonna have my balls if her friend gets hurt so find a way to fix this,” Christian got up and walked out. Hunter also got up but before he left he said “And by that he means find a way to get rid of that b***h for good, make sure she stays dead this time.” Hunter was also gone which left Paul. Paul wasn’t one to start panicking at such things, he always found a sense of calm in all the chaos. “Look I’m not gonna sit here and throw blame at you, we all f****d up by not making sure she was really dead we never thought it could have been someone’s body so we never checked but they had some good points. You have more to lose than the rest of us so do what you need to get the information out of her, I will let you know what I find out. Stay strong man we've been through worse.” Paul left Logan in his office.

Logan knew Christian was right and if Mia ever found out she would hate him but he still felt he needed her to know who she was marrying so he went home to talk to her. Logan got home and Mia was setting the table “Hey Babe" he said kissing her on the cheek, “Hey yourself, you look…like you had a long day" Mia replied. “I’m ok, I’m gonna go upstairs to freshen up" he went upstairs to try and prepare himself for the inevitable. When Logan went back downstairs Mia had already dished up for both of them, Logan took a seat next to her and they had dinner. Mia was avoiding Logan's eyes but she looked like she had something so to say and so did he but before he could say anything she just jumped in “Logan, I was hoping we could talk about something and I know this is a strange topic but how come we haven’t slept together?” Her question really knocked the winds out of him, this was the last straw he really couldn’t take anymore shocking conversations. Logan chocked a little on his food, “I mean when I agreed to this I knew s*x would be a commodity in our relationship.” Logan thought for a second before replying “uhm I wasn’t expecting that”, he took a deep breath “Look Mia it’s not that I don’t find you attractive because I do, I mean you are smoking hot and anyone who doesn’t see that is blind because in your case even fools can see that" Logan did his best to give her an explanation and to some extent his explanation was true but he couldn’t tell her about all the other things that made it impossible for him to sleep with her. Logan loved Mia and he knew right there and then she could never find out the truth, even if he had to dig Emily's grave himself.
