Her Worst Enemy

Episode 1 Changes Mia

"Oh my God I'm going to be late for work again" Mia say to her roommate Alexandra, as Mia gets ready for work she glances over and sees her phone light up with a call from her mother. She decides not to pick up the call, the last thing she is in the mood for is to hear her mother complain about a million things miah couldn't care less about or ofcourse remind how much of a disappointment she is for not going to business school and learning the ropes to take over the family business but she couldn't care less about it. Mia ofcourse appreciates that this business has afforded her the privileged life she has lived and respects that but not enough to leave her first love. Mia is one of the youngest editor's for a modern and contemporary publishing house with online and print platforms and ofcourse a magazine and podcast. It's not her big dream, that would be publishing her book one she has been working on for the past 2 years but she seems to have been having writer's blog for the last 6 months and so has decided to make her voice more known on the online platform of the publishing house she works for and she is damn good at it.

 She continues getting ready for work but her phone is ringing again, she contemplates not picking it up but in the end the phone wins. With at over exaggerated  sigh she picks up the call "Goodmorning mom" mia says. Grace replies "Finally you pick up, Mia you need come back something terrible has happened". Grace Eleanor Drake prestigious as they come, daughter of the Earl of Warrick and grand daughter of the late Duke of Lovair a small town near Scotland. She has always gotten her way from when she was a little girl, being born in to royalty and money she had many options but when she fell inlove with Lex she forfeited all of that and has never regretted it. Today on the phone with her daughter she feels a sense of dread as she tells her only child that her beloved father has died in a tragic and gruesome car accident less than 2 hours ago.

Mia let's out a sob as she listens to her mother, she can't believe what she is hearing  she doesnt want to believe that her dad is gone. "I have already made arrangements for you to get home, I spoke to your grandfather and he says you can use the family jet to get home, please be at the airport within the next hour as your grandparents will be travelling with you". Grace tried to sound strong for her daughter but her voice was rusty and a little shaky like she has spent the last couple of hours crying. Mia does what she is told for once without protest and packs a bag, she calls into work to let her boss know that she will not be coming in and explains her situation. Her boss requests to re-assign some of her work because she might be gone a while, she also takes the opportunity to call Alexandra and let her know, "I can take some time off and come with you if you want, I can be there in less than 30 minutes to pack" Alexandra offers. "No it's fine Alex I can manage, I will call you when I land and will let you know when mom plans on having the funeral". With that Mia hangs up just when her cab arrives and leaves for the airport.
