Episode 4 Unpredictable Logan

Logan headed to the airport to board his private jet to Tokyo, he took the opportunity during the drive to call one of his girlfriends. Logan is known as a notorious play boy who has a girlfriend in every city he does business as well as a model for each week here in New York, no one actually knows whether that's true or not but like the saying goes work hard and  playharder right. "Hi Logan you I'm so glad to hear from you" a lady on the other end of the phone with a Japanese accent says to Logan, Logan replies "Hi Sue, I'm going to be in Japan for the next few days so I thought I'd offer you the opportunity to show me a good time". After speaking for a few minutes Sue couldn't wait to see Logan, Sue is by far Logan's longest relationship. She is a supermodel and also consults for her father political campaigns from time to time so beauty and brains.

After boarding the plane Logan decided to get some work done and check his emails, he then thought it would be a good idea to get a second opinion about his plan from his best friends who always knows how to set him right, for some reason Logan was starting to feel a little apprehensive about his plan and needed to get his mind-set working right again. "Hey Christian, how’s it going? How’s Europe treating you?". Christian Belmont, French by birth but grew up right here in New York but unlike Logan Christian is one of the good guys. Christian is CEO of the Rexford Industries European division and has been living in Europe for the last 3 years, his family is more into investing than opening actually business but he is as wealthy as Logan. Chris and Logan have known each other since they were kids so Logan is quite familiar with Drake's and knows how much Grace despises Logan. "Hey bro what's up? Europe is well Europe, to be quite honest I miss New York ". Says Christian. "Wow I should record this, I never thought I'd ever hear you say that you miss New York I thought you were all about the zen lifestyle and not the New York drama. Anyway the reason I called I'm sure you've heard by now that Lex is dead" Logan say matter-of-factly. Chris sighs anticipating what Logan is about to say next, "I want that company and I have a plan in mind". After speaking for what seems like forever Logan feels quite sure of himself and all the doubts have dissipated, Chris might be a good guy but he is a businessman and he knows a great opportunity when he sees one although he does not agree with Logan's way of getting things done he does command him on his success because evidently his way does work.

Logan arrived in Tokyo a little after midnight, after hours of flying he was exhausted that is until he found Sue in his hotel room turns out time does fly when you're having fun. In the morning Logan when to Tanaka's offices to meet with the older Japanese man, Chimoto Tanaka is one of Japan's richest man and also ranks very high on the world's billionaires but his morally compass is pointed in the right direction so Logan has his work cut out for him if he is to convince Mr Tanaka to go along with his plan. After 3 days of negotiations Mr Tanaka and Logan come to an agreement, he will back Logan in his bid to buy Lexington Software but will not lift a finger to stop or help him along. With that Logan headed back to New York, when he arrived he decided to go to his office and sees how the meeting went with Mr Han. Logan decided to use the private elevator to his office so he can avoid been seen, in his office he overheard a conversation between the assistant who had absolutely no idea he was there. "I heard she is a hot shot in the publishing world and that she is writing a book I'm not sure about what though, but I've got to give it to her that girl is tenacious always has been and has balls like you wouldn't believe" says an assistant. "I hear she has moved back permanently and is planning to take over the family business, I say good for her there are sharks out there waiting to cut into her jugular to get their hands on it" another assistant say. "Well I'm team Mia all the way, speaking of sharks" another assistant says while glancing in the direction of Logan's office. At that moment Logan's door opened and all the assistants immediately dispersed.

"Mr Rexford I had no idea you were back already, How was Japan?" Amber says with a smile plastered on her face. "Japan was fine thank you, do I have any messages?" Logan replies. "No, no messages but there is someone waiting to for, I have no idea how she knew you were coming back but she insisted on waiting" says Amber. With his eyebrows raised Logan motions for Amber to continue talking, "Its Mrs Drake sir, she is in the conference room". Logan is taken a little aback by this declaration and immediately replies "Did you say Mrs Drake? As in Grace Drake?". "Yes sir, if you don't want to meet with her I can tell her you are unavailable". "No it's fine please show her to my office", Logan headed to his office to wait for Grace. Logan feels a little uneasy with Grace in his building and Frankly very surprised, he couldn't imagine a reason why she would be here he hasn't seen the woman in years after all. Logan stood by the windows looking outside, his office had the best view in the entire building, probably the best view in all of New York. From his window you could central park, the billionaires row and if you look close enough you can see as far as the empire state building. Grace knocked and let herself into Logan's office, his office is Porsche designed in modern style decor, with floor to ceiling windows, his mahogany desk in the centre of the room and a high rise chair behind it, to the left a big glass table with chairs for meetings or private conferences, next to it a row of modern styles filling cabinets. To the right a private office gym with different work out machines including a treadmill and weight lifts, there is also a door leading to his bathroom and dressing room, next to the door is his private elevator. Across Logan's desk to the other side of the room is a large black couch, with smaller couches on the sides and a small glass coffee table, next to the couches is a small bar. Grace took a seat on the couch and waited for Logan to turn around, with that Logan said to Grace while still facing the window "I was surprised to learn you were here". "Well that isn't a very nice way to greet your future mother in law now is it Logan?" Said Grace. With that Logan turned around and walked to his desk and stood behind his chair "What are you on about Grace? I'm sorry but you have me at a disadvantage because I hadn’t the slightest clue what you're talking about". There was a silence for a moment so Logan took a seat in his chair "I was really sorry to hear about Lex, I was actually planning to come to Boston tomorrow to pay my respects". Grace replied "Oh spare me you've been looking for an opportunity to take my husband's company and the chance just presented itself and you expect me to believe you're sorry he is dead. I spoke to Tanaka and he told me about your little visits to convince him to back you in trying to bid for my family's shares, at least you have the decency to look a little ashamed". "Yes I went to see Tanaka there's nothing wrong with weighing my options and it's no secret I have always wanted Lexington Software" said Logan. "I wonder what your father would say about your actions, finding out you're trying to pull the rug from under us and my husband's not even in the ground yet you know your father might actually find it interesting and you might lose those majority shares he promised you" said Grace. Logan replied "Ok I'll bite what do you want?". "What makes you think I want anything?". Logan replied "Because if you didn't I'd be having this conversation with my father and his lawyers". Grace thought for a second before replying "Tanaka and I are willing to sell you a percentage each of the company that would give you the controlling majority". "But you want something in return" said Logan. Grace replied with a smirk "Of course I want something, nothing's free you know that better than most". Now the question is what could Grace possibly want.

Two days after Logan met with Grace at his office he decided to head to Boston to the Drake compound, "Mr Rexford shall I bring the car around?" Said Logan's driver "no, no need I'll drive myself take the day off Mason". On the drive to Boston Logan was replying his conversation with Grace over and over in his head, he couldn't believe Grace's proposal and that Mia would ever agree to it. Mia is a sensible young woman after all and beautiful she must have a boyfriend, how could she possibly agree to this kind of arrangement unless she has no idea, I wouldn't put it past Grace to hang me out dry by being the one to tell Mia this assuming she already knows. By the time Logan got to Boston it was a little after 3 in the afternoon, driving into the estate he started to think about the last time he was here. It was the summer before Mia left for Cambridge, she threw parties all summer because her parents were in New York and she wanted to have some fun before college started. Mia was never much of a drinker but she did love to dance and dance she did. Mia was friends with Logan's younger sister Macy so that was an automatic invite to him as well, though Macy is 3 years younger that Mia she always seemed to like her more than the other girls. Logan entered the house, upon hearing voices in the patio he headed that direction before he could even contemplate how this would go he heard her laugh. There she was standing with a lady talking and laughing like it isn't a funeral, Mia always knew how to laugh especially through the gloomy times she was a glass half full type of person and he was so fascinated by that. Wow she is even more beautiful than he remembers, Mia Drake in all her glory, Logan thought to himself "I guess my little Mia isn't so little a anymore" that's when she turned around and their eyes locked.
