Chapter 4

LUX I was inside Casa Bar, drowning myself in alcohol alone. When I came out of the bathroom earlier, Jianci was no longer inside my room. I immediately went out and headed to Casa Bar to drown myself in alcohol. While I was quietly drinking alcohol, a woman approached me and sat next to me. She placed a hand on my thigh and played with her fingers with a seductive look. "Hello, Mr. Lux. You're alone. Do you want me to accompany—" "Get lost!!!" I shouted loudly at the woman. I pushed her hard, causing her to fall off the chair. In my anger, I threw the glass I was holding on the floor. The woman screamed in mixed shock and fear. I vented the anger I was feeling on the poor woman. Anger for Jianci. But more for myself. I hate myself. I'm a coward. I hate the woman I treasured the most. But the two of us can't have a relationship. I am her uncle for Pete's sake! My friend Lance and my assistant Perry arrived and approached me. "Hey, man! Just chill, okay?" Lance said to me before signaling the woman who was still sitting on the floor to stand up and leave. The woman stood up trembling with fear and ran away from me. "What's the problem, man? Who made you so angry?" "I hate myself, bro! I hate myself!" I shouted. I bowed my head and covered my face with my palms. Liquid flowed from my eyes. Since I grew up, this was the first time I cried. "C'mon, bro. Tell us your problem," Lance urged me. Only Lance and my assistant Perry know all my problems. I was like an open book to them. Perry asked the waiter for three glasses and placed them on the small table. They joined me in drinking. Lance didn't ask me again what my problem was. He let my feelings calm down first until I voluntarily told them what happened. "I'm an i***t. Right, Lance? Perry?" I asked them before gulping down the alcohol in my new glass. "I didn't expect Jianci to do that. I thought what she felt for you was just her little infatuation," Lance commented while shaking his head. "Maybe she's looking for the love of a father. Or maybe an older brother. We all know that she lacks love from her own family," Perry commented. I gave him a bad look. When he realized what he said, he slapped his own mouth three times and backed away from me. "Talk to each other properly. Make her understand your situation. I'm sure you don't want to completely ruin your relationship. I know how important she is to you," Lance advised me. I shook my head slightly. I didn't think that my playboy friend would give me such advice about a woman. Anyway, Jianci was not an ordinary woman. And our situation was not ordinary either. "I hurt her heart and pride. Do you think she'll still want to talk to me?" I shook my head bitterly. "Don't show yourself to her for now. Let whatever tension happens between you two pass. I'm sure that after a few days, you'll be able to face each other," Lance advised me again. I nodded to him. He was right. I'll talk to Jianci later when the tension that happened between us has subsided. For a week, I didn't show myself at the mansion. I had Perry buy me a new cell phone and a new number because I turned off my cell phone. I didn't want to be tempted to contact Jianci or call the mansion to check on her. I kept myself busy at the company so I wouldn't remember her. After a week, I decided to go home to the mansion to finally talk to Jianci seriously. I didn't forget to bring the watch I bought for her a few days before her birthday. It wasn't true that I forgot to buy her a birthday gift. I intentionally didn't give her my gift that day. I wanted Jianci to see that she wasn't important to me. So that she would stop whatever she was feeling for me. She was young. Her feelings for me would surely change, especially when she saw someone younger and more worthy of her feelings than me. When I entered the mansion, I noticed that the whole surroundings seemed very quiet. I immediately called the maid's attention who was cleaning the living room and asked her. "Where's my mom? My Grandpa? Why does the surroundings seem so quiet?" I asked the maid with a frown. "Madam is in her room, Young master," the maid replied. I went to my mom's room. I was worried when I saw her lying on the bed and looking weak. She seemed sick. It had been a long time since my Mom was last sick, so I couldn't help but worry about her. "It's good that you're here, Lux." My Mom immediately got up from the bed when she saw me enter her room. "What's wrong, Mom? Are you sick? Are you okay?" I asked her worriedly. "I'm okay, Son." My mother hugged me, crying, and I became even more worried about her. "Are you hiding an illness from me, Mom? Tell me. I'll take you to the hospital. I'll have you treated by the best doctors." "I said I'm okay. And I'm not sick," she replied after breaking away from the hug. "Then tell me what's wrong." I hate it when I'm left hanging about something. "Jianci was gone." My mom cried again when she mentioned Jianci's name. "What do you mean she's gone, Mom?" Those words almost didn't come out of my mouth. Fear enveloped my chest. All sorts of bad things immediately entered my mind that might have happened to Jianci. "Tell me what happened to her, Mom! Where is she?" My voice became louder because my mother just cried and didn't answer my question immediately. "Jianci ran away from home the night of her eighteenth birthday. She left without saying goodbye. She's not at her father's house. I don't know where to look for her. I'm already worried about her," my mother confessed to me.. It felt like I was punched hard in the chest when I heard the bad news. Jianci ran away. And it was because of me. I walked out of my Mom's room as if I wasn't myself. I ignored her calling me. I walked with slumped shoulders and went to Jianci's room. Her room was quiet. It was as if I could see her crying face while lying on the bed. I couldn't control myself and strongly punched the wall several times. Will I ever see her again?
