Chapter1
This couldn't be happening. I bit the inside of my cheek to make sure I wasn't dreaming. My boyfriend couldn't possibly be holding my sister, ready to mark her in front of the whole pack. I made to approach them and demand an explanation but he growled at me fiercely, daring me to come closer. Turning to my sister, he kissed her and sank his fangs into her neck. Agony seared through me that very moment and I collapsed, falling to the ground.
How could this happen?
"I love you Seraphina, never forget that,” He said, giving my hand a gentle squeeze. My eyes fluttered, and my heart skipped a beat as I looked up at him.
Slowly he leaned closer as our lips captured each other’s. His hands came around my waist and drew me closer to him as he deepened the kiss. It was hot and steamy and when he pressed his body closer to mine, a moan couldn't help but escape my lips as his hands began to explore every inch of my body.
Oliver, my boyfriend and the Alpha’s son broke the kiss and looked into my eyes, his gaze a mixture of lust and love for me.
"I can't wait for the ceremony to be done with and to have you as my Luna ." He said his hands caressing my cheeks.
I gave him a smile which was from the bottom of my heart. His words had brought comfort to my aching soul. Heavens knew I looked forward to it with everything in me.
Being a Luna meant I was no longer going to suffer and the mockery and taunts would all go away.
It wasn't my fault that I didn't have my wolf when I turned 16 but all that didn't matter to Oliver, he still loved me nevertheless and I loved him too.
"I can't wait too," I Said my eyes watering a bit, keeping my mind from going down memory lane from everything I'd been through because I didn't have a wolf.
"You don't have to worry Seraphina, I have got everything under control. Tonight is the night I mark you as mine. "
He looked into my eyes, reassuring me before pulling me into his arms.
We stayed like that for some time, finding warmth in each other before Oliver got up, making to leave.
"I have to leave now babe but do not worry, everything changes tonight. Be sure to be at the ceremony on time and take all your time to look beautiful for me okay? "He winked at me.
His words gave me butterflies and I looked away blushing.
When he left, my mind was soaring with joy. I couldn't contain the happiness I was feeling. Running home, I made sure I did all my chores, including the laundry which was stacked high like I was washing every outfit that belonged to the whole Pack. I ignored the weird looks my family threw my way and just focused on myself.
It was tonight, the night everything would change. Oliver would be crowned as Alpha and Blueblood Pack would receive its Luna.
It was past 5:00 p.m. when I was done with everything and served Father on the dining table.
My father, Beta Cedric hated having dinner late. I was quite sure he was going to be shocked that I had prepared dinner so early. I was in a good mood and didn't want anything to disrupt the rest of my day.
I ran into the bathroom and a few minutes later I was standing before the full-length mirror which was cracked in half giving the mirror a shadowy look.
All thanks to Meredith who broke it just the day before.
I whirled around in my light blue flare gown, it was the only presentable clothing I had after my sister Meredith cried to my father last summer and he burnt all my clothes just because I appeared more beautiful than her in the mating ritual. Ironic right?
Sighing, I brushed my hair and raced down the stairs, running to the waterfall where the pre-cleansing ceremony would be taking place. It was compulsory and I had to be there on time, especially as the future Luna of the pack.
"Well, well, well look who we have here, the wolfless mutt herself. "
A voice stopped me in my tracks as I swallowed painfully and turned.
It was no other person but my father, Beta Cedric. He had a look of disgust and anger in his eyes as he regarded me.
"Where do you think you are going??" He asked and tilted his head.
“Let me guess the ceremony ?"
I shook my head which had suddenly become stiff. "No...yes,"
"So which do you want me to believe ?" He paused. I thought the pre-ceremony was only for those who have wolves, have you forgotten you don't have any and have bluntly refused to shift?
You know what, you can go if you wish but always remember you will forever remain useless and worthless to me and everyone in this pack, I even wonder what Oliver sees in you”
His words sent pangs of pain through my whole body and they brought tears to my eyes.
With that, he turned away leaving me standing.
Why did my own family have to be so mean to me?
By the time I got to the ceremony, I couldn't even participate. I stood on the sideline and watched everyone as tears dropped down my eyes.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see Meredith looking so beautiful in a nice dress with her hair styled to perfection. She was the perfect representation of what a werewolf woman was supposed to be, something I wasn't.
I couldn't take this anymore so I turned, looking for a spot to compose myself. I saw Oliver and his father talking, and I made to leave but the words from the Alpha made me halt in my steps.
"....What do you even see in that worthless girl? Left to me, I would not allow you to claim that wolfless girl, you will bring shame to us all….”
I didn't wait to hear the rest of the conversation as I turned and ran away, tears clouding my vision, my heart wrenching.
I ran far to the farthest tree, away from everyone’s sight, and broke down in tears. I didn't know if I could do this anymore. The pack would not accept me. They never had and never would.
Lost in my sorrows, I did not notice someone had snuck up on me. It was Oliver.
"Why are you crying?" He asked, peering into my face, his voice soft and soothing.
Before I could reply, his lips brushed against mine and I forgot about everything I’d been crying about five seconds ago.
"The whole pack is waiting for us Seraphina, they anticipate their Luna."
He took my hand and led me up the raised podium overlooking the crowd that was gathered there. As soon as everyone saw us together, everyone suddenly became quiet. There was no excitement in the air. Rather, it felt like a funeral instead of a crowning ceremony. I was the beta’s wolfless daughter after all.
"Dear members of the Blueblood pack, today is a remarkable day in our lives." He paused making sure his words sank."Before we begin, I would like to announce that I Oliver Damon, take Sera...."
Oliver couldn't finish his words as suddenly, he was thrown into a fit. He tried steadying himself but his head flew backward and he fell to the ground, gasping for air.
Everyone gasped, stupefied, and before I could get to him, he was on his back shaking uncontrollably as foam oozed out from his mouth.
"Do something please." I cried "Please do something."
This wasn't happening, my world just wasn't crumbling in front of my eyes.
Hell broke out as the pack was thrown into a frenzy. Everyone scrambled around and he was taken into the pack house.
Hours later, we were still in Oliver’s bedroom where leading members of the council and his father gathered around him and his mother had his head on her lap. The rest of the pack still waited around.
I stood at the doorway and had painful tears rolling down my cheeks. Oliver was my everything, if anything happened to him I’d be as good as dead.
"The only person who can help us now is the Lycan king. Only he holds the remedy." The physician declared
"I have tried everything to revive him, I'm sorry but I failed."
Everyone gasped and soon began to murmur among themselves.
“Alexander Moonborn? As in the Lycan king?” his mum asked, sniffling.
“Yes Luna, only he holds the remedy, I’m sorry” the physician replied.
“Oh my boy” the Luna bawled. “How do we possibly get access to Alexander? We all know ho… how he is”
She began hyperventilating and a few female pack members stepped forward to escort her out of the room.
Alexander the Lycan king?
Subconsciously my hand flew to my neck where a blood vial pendant rested.
“The Luna is right. Alexander is ruthless and would most likely slay anyone who approaches his fortress. Going to him is as good as death. What do we do?” Elder Kerian spoke up.
Everyone was thrown into a frenzy once again, murmuring to themselves. Nobody was willing to risk it, not even any of Oliver’s family.
“I will go,” I said suddenly and everyone turned their heads towards me.
They looked at me in shock before it turned into scorn. They must have thought I was crazy.
"I will go in search of Alexander and seek his help.”
