NAOMI “Earth to Mimi!” Taylor snapped her fingers in my face and I woke up from the trance I was in. “Sorry, what did you say?” I asked her, trying to hide my terrifying feelings. “I said Daisy is not around today. Do you miss her?” she said, giving me a demanding look. “Oh of course I do…” I replied but was caught short by the teacher. “Naomi Benson, your father is here to see you!” She shouted at the top of her voice. The fear evoked in me as I looked around in terror. “He is at the counselor’s office,” she said and I quickly ran out. A gut in me tells me exactly why he is here. He does not know how I got into this fine art college so he can never take me out. I rushed into the counselor’s office and saw the evil man smiling and chatting with my counselor. Panting my eyes locked with my counselor, Mrs Gates, she looked at me with a gentle smile. “You were going to be the best in your year, Naomi,” she said sadly. Were? What was that supposed to mean? “Anyways, Congratulations,” she said and my heart missed a beat. My father had succeeded in ruining my life completely. “I will have your letter of withdrawal sent to you so you can fill it up.” She finally dropped the bombshell. I looked at my father, who showed no remorse at all. My dreams just got shattered in front of me, and the person who was supposed to make my dream come true is the one ruining it. My father got up and greeted the woman before walking out, he didn't even stop to look at me. I summoned enough courage and chased after him. “Dad?” I called as I stepped into the hallway. He halted and did not turn around. I took that as a sign to continue. “Can you please let me keep going to school? It's my dream, please let me at least keep that,” I pleaded, feeling tears in the depths of my eyes. He turned around and before I could predict what was going to happen he launched at me, grabbed me by the neck, and hit me on the wall. “Ahh,” I yelped as it became difficult to breathe. “You are about to get married to the richest man and here you are caring about some painting school?” his grip tightened and it became extremely hard to breathe. “You will go home to your mother and start getting prepared for your upcoming Marriage.” He said with bane in his voice. I held his hand and struggled to get out of his grip, but he was stronger than I thought. I don't want this, My art has been the one providing happiness for me. I will not watch it get taken away from me, Never! I pierced my nails into his hand with so much force. “Ahhhh!” He yelled in pain and released me. I fell to the floor, fighting hard to catch my breath, a hard substance hit me on my head before I could complete my task. My eyes became blurry, and slowly I fell to the ground. I saw Micheal Benson with a bat in his hand. What is my offense for the universe to put me into the hands of this monster? Darkness won over the pain I felt as I got driven away by it
