Chapter one: The Betrayal
The Way Grand Mansion had never looked more magnificent. Crystal lights illuminated every corner of the luxurious estate, golden decorations shimmered under the bright chandeliers, and the sound of laughter filled the air. Tonight was not just another grand celebration it was a night dedicated to the beloved princess of the Way family. Alice Way’s 18th birthday. Guests from influential families gathered to celebrate the young heiress who had been admired by everyone since birth. The future of Way Co. and the pride of the Way family. Upstairs, far away from the excitement, a young woman stood in front of the mirror, admiring her reflection. Alice Way. With her long blonde hair falling perfectly over her shoulders, captivating doe-like eyes, and delicate features that could make anyone pause, she looked every bit like the princess everyone claimed she was. She adjusted her dress slightly, a small smile playing on her lips as she admired herself. Suddenly.... “Alice! Alice!” The door burst open, and a familiar voice echoed through the room. Sophia rushed inside, only to stop the moment she saw Alice. For a few seconds, she completely forgot why she had come. Alice turned around and noticed her friend staring. She raised an eyebrow and gave a playful smirk. “Cough…do you like what you see?” Sophia immediately snapped out of her thoughts, her cheeks warming. “Gosh, will you stop that?” she complained, rolling her eyes. “Are you done getting ready? The guests are already downstairs. Mr. Cornel asked me to bring you down.” Alice laughed softly and picked up her clutch. “Relax, Sophia. It’s my birthday. I have to make an entrance.” Sophia smiled at her words, but behind that smile was something Alice failed to notice. Something hidden. Alice linked her arm with Sophia’s as they walked out of the room, completely unaware that the night waiting for her downstairs would change her life forever. The moment the doors to the grand hall opened, all eyes turned toward her. The conversations faded. The music softened. For a moment, it felt as if the entire world had stopped just to admire her. “Miss Alice Way has arrived.” The announcement echoed through the hall. Alice smiled gracefully as she stepped down the grand staircase, every movement filled with confidence. The sparkling dress she wore matched the elegance of the mansion, and the small crown-like accessory in her hair reminded everyone of her status. The Way family princess. Guests whispered among themselves. “She really is beautiful.” “Just like a true heiress.” “Way Co. is lucky to have her as their future successor.” Alice heard the compliments but simply smiled. She had grown up surrounded by admiration, but she never let it get to her head. At the bottom of the stairs stood her father, Cornel Way, the chairman of Way Co. Despite his usually serious expression, his eyes softened when he looked at his daughter. “My little princess is finally eighteen,” he said. Alice smiled brightly and walked toward him. “Dad, you make it sound like I’m getting old.” A small laugh escaped from the guests around them. Cornel shook his head, pretending to be annoyed. “You’ll always be my little girl.” Alice hugged him. For that moment, she believed nothing could ever break the bond between them. Not even betrayal. Not even lies. Across the room, a young man watched her with a charming smile. Ethan Blake. Alice’s boyfriend. He approached with a beautifully wrapped gift in his hand. “Happy birthday, Alice.” Her eyes lit up when she saw him. “Ethan, you came.” “Of course I did. How could I miss the birthday of the most important person in my life?” His words made Alice smile, and Sophia, standing nearby, watched the couple with a knowing look. “Finally,” Sophia teased. “I thought you two would never stop acting shy around each other.” Alice playfully pushed her. “Sophia!” Everyone laughed. It was a perfect scene. A loving father. A devoted boyfriend. A best friend who seemed to care. Alice had everything she could ever want.
