VENA'S P.O.V. I looked at my parents with a blank expression, and they looked at me with hope in their eyes, there was no way they thought I agreed to all this. “I can't just get married to an unknown man for no reason, and what do you mean by two days? I don't even know this man.” “You will be saving us from our financial crises, you are our last hope.” My mother pleaded with me “It doesn't matter, it's my happiness, does that not matter?” I sat back down frustrated. “We arranged a marriage for you with Eren. He offered a large amount of money and considering the situation we are in right now, we need that money for our business, and to pay our debt" “Why will you plan this without consulting me first, now you are telling me I am getting married in the next two days, how is that even possible?” I wondered why my parents had done this to me. “Please do this for us, you are our daughter and we want something good for you” my mother persuaded “We have collected part of the money,” my father said I was stunned “You did what? You didn't even know if I would agree to this and you already got paid” “You need to start preparing for your big day” my mother gave a fake smile. “I need some space,” I told them and walked away I immediately removed my phone from my back pocket to call Lorelei - my best friend. “I'm getting married.” “What? Last I checked, you didn't have a boyfriend, who are you getting married to then?" “I'm getting married to Eren Quaid.” “Hold on a second, you need to make me understand what's going on here?” “Meet me at the spa at ten.” I hung up and picked up my keys before leaving the house. I had a new life ahead of me, I needed to focus on that. I met Lorelei at the spa, she was already waiting for me, I can't blame her though, she just heard her best friend who found it difficult to be in a relationship is getting married. “How are you getting married?” she asked as soon as she saw me. “My parents practically sold me out to Eren Quaid” We entered the spa together. We were greeted and offered seats “Hold on, the same Eren” I nodded my head “We are to get married in the next two days” “What? That is too soon, why is he rushing you” She looked at me with pity in her eyes “I don't know, I am mad at my parents for doing this to me” I answered “What was your reply, do you agree to do it,” she asked. I shook my head “There is no way out of this, my parents are in debt, and I have to help them” I replied. “I understand, just know that I am always here for you at all times” She hugged me. Since my wedding was supposed to happen in the next two days, she cheered me up with some other cool jist and I couldn't ask for more and we had the best massage of our life. ****** (Two days later) I sat in the car nervously with my head against Lorelei's shoulder while my hands trembled within my dress. It was my wedding day, the happiest day of my life, yet I felt so nervous that my feet went cold. “You are beautiful, you don't need to look nervous,” she said. “What if he doesn't show up and he realizes I wasn't good enough for him” I cried “No way and I heard from a legit source that he is already inside waiting,” she said putting a smile on my face The car came to a halt and I snapped back to reality I looked at the church to see my Dad standing there and Lorelei gave me a reassuring smile before we got out of the car and my dad took my hands. “You look beautiful.” He smiled as I hugged him and we both walked down the aisle. The place was beautiful just like I imagined, and I looked forward to seeing the pastor and Eren but he wasn't showing his face, rather he was looking the other way, which made me curious. I had never seen him in person before, it was always on billboards, which made me more anxious, but I needed to get a grip of myself. He turned around as my father held my hand out, and I would have sworn that the world came to a stop as he smiled. “Hello, Vena." I wanted to scream at the top of my voice, but I needed to compose. “You are more handsome than I imagined,” I whispered loud enough for him to hear and he laughed. The pastor began the sermon, but I was so engrossed in what he looked like, that I snapped out of my imagination as he squeezed my hands and I looked at him “Your vows.” The pastor repeated, and I cleared my throat. “Today I say, “I do” but to me, that means, “I will.” I will take your hand and stand by your side in the good and the bad. I dedicate myself to your happiness, success, and smile. I will love you forever.” “I now pronounce you man and wife, you may presently kiss the bride.” I smiled as he kissed me and soon enough everything was over, but my smile immediately turned to a frown as the decorations above caught fire and crashed to the ground. The entire hall became chaotic while everyone was running helter-skelter. I was frozen in my spot. I couldn't move as I saw the flames, my hands were suddenly pulled by someone and tears rolled down my eyes, but I couldn't find him. “Where's Eren?” I tried to stop running, but the hand pulling me held on tight. He pushed me out of the window and someone caught me before I stumbled on the floor I looked around completely confused, half of my dress was burnt, but that was the least of my worries “Mum! Dad! Eren!!” I yelled as I looked around, but I couldn't find them as I walked through people. “Vena, don't go in there, it's too dangerous!” Lorelei pulled me from the staircase. “I can't find anyone! No, I can't leave them there.” I was shivering even though I was feeling hurt. “Listen to me, Vena. You can get burnt if you go in there, listen!” She held my head in between her hands, “... They will be fine, but you need to stay here so that they will see you. They are alive, someone you just need to be…" “There's no one alive in there.” I heard one of the firefighters speak. “No that's not possible! My…" “Vena look out!!" That was the last thing I heard before falling into darkness. (a few minutes later) “How long has she been out?” I heard a familiar voice speak as the cold air hit my body like tons of ice, yet I couldn't move an inch. It felt as though my body was frozen in place, I tried to get my eyes open, but they were heavy and with all the energy I had left, I presumed my eyes, and it flew open making me hiss due to the contact with light. “Hey!” His voice was soft as I looked at his calm face and the memories of everything that happened flooded my mind and the familiar sting of tears was felt in my eyes. “Where are they?” I asked softly as I tried to get out of bed, but he held me in so tight that I couldn't move, “... What's going on, Eren? Where are my parents?” He loosened his grip on me, which made me look at him with a glimpse of hope in my eyes, but he turned away from me. “I'm sorry, Vena. Your parents saved me and my mother but when I tried to save them the entire building crashed. I couldn't do anything.” My body was stiff at the thought of the building crashing on them. "No! It can't be, are you…" “Vena listens to me!” He sat down on the chair to look into my eyes, “... I know it's hard, I'm sorry I couldn't save them and no one could enter or come out of that place. More than half a hundred people died inside that place and I was unable to do anything about it, I'm so sorry.” The tears rolled down my eyes as I snuggled into his chest and he pulled me onto his legs. The happiest day of my life turned out to be the worst, was this the reason I felt anxious before the wedding? There was nothing anyone would have thought would go wrong, and this happened. My heart felt heavy as I held on to my chest while he held on to me, I couldn't bring myself to think, all in one day I had lost everything that was mine. If only I hadn't agreed to this wedding, this would have never happened, but I was so caught up in marrying the man of my dreams that I accepted it and I lost them. “How long have I been out?" I questioned softly. “Two days.” I exclaimed.
