Chapter 1-Casey Jones
"Ugh...it's the first day of the last semester and I am already late for class",I groan. Last night was a hectic day at work and when I finally got home I just went straight to bed. It is not easy being a waitress at one of the most famous restaurants in Venolia, but it's the only job that I could find. The previous semester was a bit difficult and my grades weren't impressive.I started looking for a part time job so I would be able to pay for my studies, in case my scholarship was taken away. I started working at Renova during my spring break. Working at Renova is tiring, but the staff is amazing. We are more like one big family. They are very welcoming and even though I haven't known them for long, I know they've got my back. Our boss, Anna the owner of the restaurant, is very friendly. She has a warm personality and doesn't act like our boss, but more like our big sister. The people at my workplace are the only family I have. I grew up in an orphanage and I don't even know what my biological mother looks like. She abandoned me when I was six months old and the only thing she left me was a necklace. It was a gold necklace and was once stolen from me when I was five but with a friend's help I managed to get it back. I wear it everyday as it's the only thing that connects me to her.Growing up in an orphanage has its disadvantages but one thing it taught me is to always stand up for myself. I remember on my first day in high school some mean girls decided to bully me, and they all ended up having bruises on their faces. After that day no one has ever tried to bully me in my school again. I am not saying that violence is a smart way to solve problems, but sometimes  people need to be dealt with in a specific way so they never repeat their mistakes. The parents of the three girls were furious and told the school principal to have me expelled. Well, I didn't get expelled. I was punished, but that's a story for another day.
