Chapter 5 The former Mrs Brown

"I'll send it with my signature when I get the payment"
"There's no need for that, I'll have my assistant take care of it right now" Michael said in an equally cold voice. His anger though stemmed from the fact that Sarah wasn't sad about the divorce, she seemed like she had been waiting for the divorce to happen so she could leave him. And that thought sent a bitter feeling through Michael's body.
Thinking about it for a second, Sarah picked up the pen and added her signature to it. She closed it and handed it over to Michael who practically snatched it from her.
"I'll be expecting it then, Mr Brown. I'll get going then" Sarah picked up her small bag and dragged out one of her two big suitcases. She dragged it all the way outside before instructing a maid to get the other one for her.
"Well, well, well, look who's finally leaving" Maria's voice sounded victorious. "I hope this is the last we ever hear of you" she added
"And I hope you finally get a life. It doesn't speak well of a lady like yourself to always run to mummy or brother every time something goes wrong in her life" Sarah retorted
"At least I'm still rich. You are no longer a Brown, you should be worried about how you're gonna survive now" Maria added bitterly when she saw that Sarah didn't look sad about having to leave
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that sweetie" Sarah said just as a luxury black car pulled over to where she was
"You sure did take your time" Daniel said getting out of the car
"Had to make sure I didn't leave behind anything" Sarah said smiling and hugged Daniel
"And who might you be?" Maria asked getting annoyed at being ignored
"Someone you don't know" Daniel said without sparing her a glance. The sound of a suitcase being rolled out caught their attention
"Oh, good" Sarah said reaching for it only to be stopped by Daniel who proceeded to take it from her
"Is this all?" He asked and she nodded yes. Daniel opened the passenger door for Sarah and carefully loaded her suitcases into the car trunk and then drove away leaving a stupefied Maria and Michael who was watching the entire scene from a window upstairs.
"Damn, I can't believe you're finally free of that arrangement" Daniel said excitedly
"Yeah" Sarah said with less enthusiasm
"What's that I hear? You ain't happy?" Daniel asked looking surprised
"I am, it's just mixed feelings" she explained
"Sarah, you slaved away for that sick as hell family. For a husband you never saw for one full day and for a family that hated your guts, have you forgotten who you are? Boss?" He asked and she sighed
"I know, Daniel, you know what, let's just not talk about it anymore" she said as her mind kept on replaying what occurred earlier between Michael and herself and she released frustrated sigh trying to will the image out of her head and feelings of giddiness out of her body
"I wonder how they'll react when they find out you own S.H. Global" Daniel said after a while and Sarah's eyes opened
"I don't want them ever finding out" she said
"And why not Sarah? Damn you became no fun after your time there" he said playfully and Sarah smiled and looked out the window
"I'm guessing you got my house ready" she said smiling at him
"Of course, I put people on it the moment I heard about the new development. You know I don't waste time"
"Thanks, Daniel for everything" she said sincerely and he looked at her briefly before facing the road and shaking his head
"You don't have to thank me" he said seriously and she smiled "but if you really do wanna thank me, come out with me tonight, I have a welcome party happening just for you"
"Daniel" she groaned and buried her face in her hand
"Hey, I gathered everyone, well I called Matthew and he gathered everyone" Daniel admitted and she bursted out in laughter
"Well I have to go then, Matthew would probably kill me if I miss his party" she said her laughter subsiding
Twenty minutes later, Daniel drove into a white Duplex and they both got down from the car with Sarah smiling as she looked round and Daniel bringing down her luggages
"I've missed this place so much" she said
"I'm sure it has missed you more" Daniel said
"Welcome home Miss" an elderly man said and Sarah smiled when she saw him
"Mr Porter, it's good to see you once again" she hugged him
"Well you look like you haven't eaten since you left" Sarah laughed as she saw the elderly woman come from the direction her husband came from
"Mrs Porter, I missed you as well" she hugged her too
"Come on in then, I prepared your favorite. I couldn't believe Daniel when he called to say you were coming back but I still prepared everything and was planning on whacking him if it turned out to be a lie" the elderly lady said.
Mr and Mrs Porter were Sarah's housekeepers and she let them maintain the house while she was away and they received their monthly income through Daniel.
"We haven't had time to get other people to help out here because the notice was short, but before the end of this week, we would have people lined up and you can make the final decision" the elderly man said
"That's okay, I really just wanna sleep for a while, apparently I have a party this night" Sarah told them and looked at Daniel accusingly but with a playful expression
"And I have a surprise for you in your room. Pick out one to wear tonight, and please don't put on anything in your suitcase. I gotta go, someone needs to be at the company" he said and waved bye
Later that night, Sarah was trying on different outfits from what Daniel had left in her room. There were all sorts of clothes from backless short gowns to mini skirts and crop tops and lots of jewelries and shoes. Sarah finally settled on a short black sexy dress and gold heels and purse. The dress was the one that covered her up the most and it didn't even reach her knees.
"Sarah dear, Daniel is here" Mrs Porter knocked on her door to inform her
"Thanks, I'll be out in a minute" she said and checked herself in the mirror and when she was satisfied with what she saw, she picked up her purse and headed downstairs. Daniel felt his throat go dry when he saw her descending
"I would say you look beautiful in that dress but I'm sure that you're the one who makes that dress look as stunning as it does" he said and she giggled
"Well, thank you, I must say you look hot as hell"
"Got to dress up to my reputation" he shrugged and she laughed
"Of course, how could I forget"
She bade the couple bye and went out with Daniel.
