Prologue
Sometimes Ruth wonders if things would have turned out loads differently if her family had continued living among humans, because everything began with a trip back to Bright Moon pack, the pack James and Beatrice, her parents, previously belonged to long before she and her sister were born. In just a few years, everything has changed, nothing remotely resembling what it was before. Her parents are both gone, and her older sister is suddenly a new person to her, which leaves her doubting if she knew Lucea as much as she thought she did. She was only a teenager when her parents had informed her and her sister about their intentions to move back to their pack. By then, Ruth and her older sister, Lucea, had no idea what it was like living in a pack. It had been an interesting experience for Ruth. She remembers how she and Lucea had looked forward to the trip, and even though she had been a little sad to leave her human friends behind, she had not regretted her parents' decision to take them to the place where they wouldn't have to live in fear and hide the fact that they are werewolves. It was easier for Ruth to find her bearings in the pack than it was for her sister, but there's no denying the fact that both of them felt at home in the pack more than they would ever feel in any other place. The family had found the pack in a bit of a disorganized state. The pack had no alpha then, as the boy that was supposed to the alpha had not yet come of age. The pack members also lived in constant fear of their pups being kidnapped by a group of wolves they had dubbed 'the mysterious wolves', that was before it became known that the wolves terrorizing them had not been many wolves at all, but one wolf that could stop at nothing in her quest to avenge the death of her parents that the late alpha of the pack had killed. Having special powers all super wolves are usually born with, she had used them to transform into different people and different wolves just to confuse and scare the members of Bright Moon pack. Thankfully, Ruth's older sister had been able to stop the woman, the woman who turned out to be related to them. No one could believe the woman that her parents had saved, leading them to be exiled from the pack, could have turned against them in the future. Even though the woman, Mira, had been defeated by Ruth's older sister, her defeat had meant the girls' parents would die. And, yes, they died. That's when all the problems Ruth is facing now started. Her sister was lucky enough to be mated to the Alpha, and although their relationship had not started off great, they finally ended up together. Which means that Lucea is now the Luna of Bright Moon pack. Before the death of their parents, Ruth used to regard Lucea as something of a hero, adoring most of the things she did, you know, all that stuff all younger siblings do. Lucea always seemed perfect, smart and seemed to have answers to all questions, solutions to all problems. That all changed recently, when Ruth discovered that Lucea had used her powers to remove some memories from her mind. Lucea had always faced life as it came, always ready to face any challenges and use what was available to keep pushing forward. But Ruth was the exact opposite of her. Being the younger child, Ruth was spoiled senseless by both her parents and her sister. They may not have been rich but they did manage to spoil her in their own way. And then, without warning, her parents had died. It was the biggest shock of Ruth's life. She had been shocked and depressed to no end. On top top of that, she had hope that she had found her mate, a young Prince that had come to her pack by mistake. He had told her that he suspected they might be mates, but at the time, Ruth had not gained her wolf so he couldn't be hundred percent sure. He would wait, he had said, for her to gain her wolf and confirm. The two of them loved each other and the thought of them possibly being mates was too good. The Prince, Sebastian, had promised to keep in touch with her, even though he lived in a far off country. He had promised to invite her to his country, promising that she would have the best time of her life there. Sebastian's presence had helped a great deal after the shock of losing her parents. But the Prince couldn't stay in the pack forever. His father had come for him and taken him away, which had left Ruth feeling empty and abandoned, add that to the recent death of her parents and she felt like everyone in the world loved abandoning her. She had stopped taking pleasure in anything, and that had included grooming herself and eating her food. That's when her older sister, with that brilliant mind of hers, had deemed it the best solution to have the memories that bothered her removed from her mind. Lucea may not have known exactly how that would affect Ruth, which makes it even more infuriating to Ruth. She had no business trying out magic she had never used before on her. But she did it, and now she is going to live with the consequences. The memories came back with more pain that she had felt when the memories had still been fresh, and Lucea had destroyed the relationship between her and the Prince. Ruth could not have been more hurt by anything in the world. Lucea was busy enjoying her man's d*ck every day, but she had made sure she didn't give Ruth a chance to get f****d by the boy she loved. Because she was the older sister, and she got to decide what was good for Ruth. Well now, she should have thought better of her decisions, because Ruth will not rest until she finds out what happened to Sebastian. She has to find him and explain what happened. Five years is not too much time, and Ruth has a tiny hope she still stands a chance with him. If she is truly his mate, it means he had no chance during the past years to find another one because she did not reject him. Or maybe she is wrong. But there is only one way to find out. Against her sister's wish, she is going to Malaysia, where Sebastian lives, on the pretext of going to study, but in reality, (and it's no secret to anyone in the pack), she is going to try and find the love of her life. Without him, she feels she will never be happy with anything at all. So here she is now, waving at her friends as the plane takes off, her heart filled with something she has not felt in a long time. Something that resembles happiness.
