Chapter 24Kai When morning finally arrives after that endless night, sunlight floods my apartment, illuminating even the ominous shadows from my bedroom. It makes me feel a bit better, but it does nothing for my exhaustion. I barely got an hour of sleep. Throughout the night, I was hoping that the effects of my insomnia wouldn’t hit me so hard, but I suppose that after everything else that happened, I would be tired today even if I had slept all night. My shift starts at four P.M. today, as usual, but I don’t know where to find the strength or energy to put myself to work. I could call in sick, but that would mean I’ll miss the much-needed distraction work offers. Without it, I’ll probably sit here on my couch, replaying what happened with Franklin and trying to suppress panic attacks. W
