Chapter 40Kai I didn’t see him enter—I was too focused on Toby and Sebastian. I wish I hadn’t been. If I hadn’t been so distracted, I might have seen him come in: Franklin, the person I dreaded to see. Now it’s too late; he has me cornered by the bathrooms, pinned against the wall, and I have nowhere to escape to. Shouting won’t help; there’s already enough of that to go around, so any sound I make will only be muffled by the noise from the bar. I didn’t think it would happen like this. Heck, I didn’t think it would happen at all. Some part of me thought—and hoped—that Toby would be nearby to stop it if it did happen. And the stupid thing is, he is nearby, just not nearby enough.
