The Mate's Decision

-Maia-

Through the forest I jump over branches, cross streams which felt like forever but about 2 hours in I stopped. Across the river I watch a man near his boat fishing and having a good time. But that is not what stopped me. It was the man, there he was sitting right in front of me.. my ex mate. I whined and stepped back and Haley noticed so she brushed her snout near me, to comfort me but instead of running I shifted back to my human form and fell to the ground.

-Ceci-

The air was different and I knew we were far from our pack borders, I can’t believe this b***h crossed borders. I looked at Haley who hasn’t shifted back and I told her we need to get back or this pack will say we are rogues. I hopped on her back and we took off. Haley isn’t that big but boy was she fast. What made my heart beat faster is that the scent I smelled was now hot on our tail. A growl rip through the forest and I knew we had to go faster, we were so close home.

 About 10 minutes out I was able to mind link my uncle for help. All the warriors were ready to attack once we crossed our borders. My ex mate sees me and nips Haley’s leg. We tumble down and before anything Maia finally shifted back and I was able to catch Valarie and toss her on my back since she was tired , she had to shift back from exhaustion and her leg was now bleeding.  We were two minutes from the line I toss Valarie to safety and the warriors surrounded her to protect her. Without thinking Maia shifted back into human form but what happened next surprised everyone. A brown wolf with hazel eyes pounced on me falling into our border. My uncle saw red he mid shifted into the air and was about to attack till he stop abruptly. The brown wolf opened his mouth and licked my face. My uncle shifts back and just watches my interaction with this unknown wolf.

-Confusion-

I stared at the wolf after he licked my face that sent tingles throughout my body and what surprised me the most was the giggle that left my mouth. Maia was screaming mate in my head and was elated with the sweet meeting. I snap out of the trance and flip over this mutt. While in my defensive stance, he shifts back in human form all in his full glory not caring about anything but me. He says “Mate, you are magnificent.” I took a step back while my Uncle pulls me back. He says “who are you and why did you attack my niece and her friend?  My parent were now standing next to my uncle while I was standing behind them confused at what events just played out.
