Chapter 12

It's been around three days since the last time I had the life lessons machine lurking around me. He told me that he had to go somewhere to confirm things. But of course, being an ass he was, he left without telling the details like where he was heading or how long it would take. It feels sort of lonely and quiet without him, though... I have him to order me around and telling me oh so important lessons for about years, without a stop. He even followed me during school trips, giving his advice which turned out to be a big help. Jin was annoying sometimes, but that could not change the fact that his tips were always useful and indeed the best for me. Staring at the plain and dull ceiling above me, I hugged my pillow as I tried to close my eyes and go to sleep since tomorrow would probably be another hectic day at work. My eyes were turning into panda eyes after a few days not having decent sleep, thinking about Seokjin and his whereabouts. "Mirae." My body quickly shot up from my bed, turning to my bedside table just to see my night lamp illuminating his figure. "Jin! Where did you go? Why it took you so long to come back?!" I bombarded him with questions, hopping off of the bed as I trudged towards him, panting heavily as I spat him more lessons. Instead of scolding me back, Jin kept his head hung low. There's something off about him... he's not usually like this. "Hey, did you catch a fever or something or did your holy trip nourished your soul?" I asked him more questions, despite not receiving a response in return. The way he kept his mouth shut made me worry and confused at the same time. "I ― I think I've found it," Jin spoke in a low voice. "Huh?" "My regret, Mirae. The reason why I was chained into this nowhere." He had finally lifted his head up before uttering his answer. This was supposed to be a happy time for him yet I caught a glimpse of his teary eyes. "Then why are you still here? You can finally go and free yourself from all of this outrage things, you know? Cheer up a bit!" I tried to lighten the situation, which turned out to be a failed attempt, it seems. "But that means we will not see each other anymore after this. Anyways, I will need you to help me on this stuff," he murmured. Thump. He was right. If he ever fulfil his needs, then there's no reason for him to stay with me any longer. He would have to continue his journey... But his happiness and well being are priorities. I poked his translucent hand, smiling at him ― something that I did not frequently do to him. "Then tell me what can I do to help you, I would be more than willing to help," I assured him. His eyes enlarged, mouth hung open. But then, it curved into a smile. "If you say so then." He shrugged. "Can you take a day off tomorrow and take a trip to Busan with me? That's the first thing we need to do," he said. I nodded my head. "I got it. Anyways, you probably don't know but actually, I was born and grew up in Busan until I was six years old, I think....? Before my parents left." The childhood memories that flashed in my head made a smile formed on my lips. "I know, Mirae. I know," he answered, giving a smile. "Huh? How did you even know? I never told you?" I put up a quizzical look. "Because I've been with you since forever, Mirae. You just have not found out what you used to have, yet."
