CHAPTER ONE (THE CHOOSING)
THE REJECTED LUNA IS THE WEREWOLF QUEEN
Chapter 1: The Choosing
The moon was too bright tonight.
It hung over Silver Fang territory like a silver coin, fat and accusing, casting everything in white. The kind of light that showed every flaw. Every tremble and every lie.
Vera stood at the edge of the clearing and her bare feet is sinking into cold grass. Her dress was simple and white. It is the color of purity, of mates, and of beginnings. The elders said white brought luck on Choosing Night.
Her heart was hammering so loud she was sure the whole pack could hear it.
Tonight was supposed to be the best night of her life.
Tonight, Alpha Kade would claim her.
Eighteen years. She’d waited eighteen years for this. Ever since she was ten and he’d ruffled her hair after she fell from a tree. Ever since he was sixteen and she was twelve he promise to marry her that he’d said, “One day, little wolf.”
One day.
The drums started. Low and deep it like a heartbeat.
The entire Silver Fang Pack formed a circle around the stone dais. Two hundred werewolves. Alphas, betas, omegas and pups are on their parents’ shoulders. Torches lined the perimeter and making the night smell like smoke and pine.
And in the center, on a raised platform of black stone, He stood ...
He is Alpha Kade.
He was everything the stories promised. He is Tall and has a broad shoulders from years of training. He has a black hair, his eyes is like storm clouds. The Alpha mark and a crescent of silver, glowed faintly on his collarbone. He wore no shirt. Just black pants and the weight of expectation.
Next to him stood Elder Maren, ancient and wrinkled, holding the silver dagger used to seal bonds. And next to Elder Maren stood... Selene.
Vera’s stomach dropped.
Selene she is blonde and perfect. .
she is the Daughter of Beta Ronan. She was wearing white too. But hers had lace and jewels. And she was smiling.
Why was Selene up there?
“Vera, Elder Maren’s voice cracked through the clearing. “Step forward.”
Vera moved. One foot. Then the other. The grass whispered under her feet. Two hundred pairs of eyes followed her. Some curious and some pitying. Most just bored.
She’d never been the favorite. Her wolf hadn’t awakened at sixteen like everyone else’s. The healers called it a “late bloomer.” The other girls called her “broken.”
But Kade said it didn’t matter. “I’ll wait,” he’d told her last month, when he’d found her crying behind the training grounds. “You’re mine, Vera. Wolf or no wolf.”
She believed him.
She stopped at the foot of the dais. Close enough to see the tension in Kade’s jaw. Close enough to see he wasn’t looking at her.
“Alpha Kade of Silver Fang,” Elder Maren continued. “Do you accept the bond offered by the Moon Goddess? Do you claim Vera Alvaro as your mate and Luna?”
Silence takes place..
The drums stopped.
Kade finally looked down at her. His storm cloud eyes moved over her face, her white dress and her bare feet. And something in them shifted. Not love and not even kindness it is a disgust..
Vera’s breath caught.
“I…” Kade’s voice was rough. “I cannot.”
A murmur rippled through the crowd.
Elder Maren frowned. “Alpha?”
Kade stepped forward, to the very edge of the platform. Now he was looking down at her like she was dirt on his boots.
“I reject you, Vera.”
The words hit her like a punch.
“I reject you,” he said again in a loud voice, so everyone could hear. “You’re weak and your wolf never came. You’re an embarrassment to this pack. To me. I will not be tied to someone who brings nothing to my table.”
The world tilted.
Vera swayed. “Kade... you said—”
“I lied,” he cut her off. Cold and final. “I was ten. You were a kid. I don’t want a Luna who can’t even shift.”
He turned, and held out his hand. He held Selene.
Selene’s smile was blinding as she stepped forward and took it.
“I claim Selene Ronan as my chosen mate,” Kade announced. “She is strong and her wolf is an apex predator. She will bear strong pups and lead this pack with me.”
Cheers erupted.
Cheers.
They were cheering while Vera’s chest felt like it was being ripped open.
The bond. The invisible thread the Moon Goddess tied between mates... it snapped. Pain exploded behind her eyes, down her spine, through her ribs. It felt like silver dragged through her veins.
Vera fell to her knees in the grass.
No one helped her.
“Get up,” Kade said, looking down at her with something like boredom. “This is pathetic. You’re dismissed from the pack. Wolfless and packless. Leave before sunrise or we’ll drag you out.”
They laughed ar her...
Someone shouted, “Good riddance!”
Vera pressed a hand to her neck. That’s where it hurt most. Where the rejection mark was burning. A silver scar in the shape of a broken circle and It would never fade. Every wolf she met for the rest of her life would know she’d been thrown away.
She stood and somehow her legs is shaking. She now dress dirty from the grass.
She didn’t cry there. Not in front of them.
She turned and walked.
Through the circle of wolves. Past pups who stared and past women who whispered. Past the training grounds where Kade once said “one day.”
No one followed.
By the time she reached the border of Silver Fang territory, the sun was starting to rise, it is pink and cruel.
She didn’t look back.

Three Years Late
Silver pack did not sleep
Vera liked that. In a city that never slept, no one noticed another girl working the night shift.
She worked at a 24-hour convenience store. Stocking shelves and ringing up beer and cigarettes at 3 AM. The name tag on her chest said “Vi” She didn’t use her full name anymore because names had power.
The scar on her neck was always covered by scarves. Even in the heat.
She had an apartment the size of a shoebox. she has no photos, no pack and no wolf.
Sometimes at night she’d dream of running of fur and teeth and the wind. She’d wake up gasping, hand on her chest, and for one second she’d feel... nothing and empty.
She is wolfless. Just like Kade said.
She told herself it was fine. Humans didn’t need wolves.
On her 21st birthday, she didn’t tell anyone. She bought herself instant noodles and ate them on the floor.
That night, the moon was red.
A blood moon. it is rare. The news called it a lunar eclipse. The wolves called it something else.
Vera couldn’t sleep. The air felt heavy. Her scar was burning.
At 12:03 AM, the pain started.
It began in her bones. she felt a deep ache, like they were being pulled apart. Then fire. Her skin felt like it was melting. She screamed but no one heard.
She crawled to the bathroom mirror. Her eyes were glowing. Not human but it turns violet.
“Not possible,” she whispered. “I’m wolfless.”
The mirror cracked.
And then she felt it.
Something inside her, buried so deep even she’d forgotten it, it tore free.
Her back arched. Her spine cracked and her vision went white.
When it cleared, she was no longer in her apartment.
She was in a field. She was under the blood moon. And she was not alone.
Standing in front of her was a wolf.
Not just any wolf.
It was white. Bigger than any wolf she’d ever seen. Taller than a horse. Its fur shimmered like moonlight. And its eyes... its violet. The same as hers.
The wolf stepped forward and pressed its forehead to Vera’s.
“You were never wolfless, daughter,” a voice said.
".You were hidden. The Silver Fang Pack was too weak to contain you. So I kept you safe. Until you were strong enough.”
Vera fell to her knees again. But this time, it wasn’t from pain.
“Who are you?” she asked, voice shaking.
“I am the Moon Goddess,” the voice answered. “And you, Vera... you are the Royal Luna. The one I promised would come once every thousand years. You were not rejected. You were chosen.”
The white wolf nuzzled her hand. Warm and real.
For the first time in three years, Vera didn’t feel empty.
She felt whole.

Five Years Later
The war started in the north.
Rogue packs there is no more alphas, but just blood and hunger. They tore through territories like a plague. Silver Fang was one of the first to fall.
Kade sent out a call for help but no one answered.
The other packs were too busy surviving.
That’s when the decree came. Carved into the sky on the night of the full moon, written in light that every wolf could see:
".A QUEEN WILL RISE. KNEEL OR BE BROKEN."
The werewolf world panicked. A Queen? There hadn’t been a Queen in 500 years.
No one knew who.
Until she walked into the ruins of Silver Fang Pack.
It was the same clearing. The same black stone dais. But now it was cracked. It is burned and half the pack was dead.
Kade stood in the center, he is older now. Scarred and desperate. Selene clung to his arm, she is thin and scared.
The crowd was small. the survivors,
Then the doors blew open.
She didn’t walk in. She arrived.
She wore a black cloak. hair down to her waist. And on her head, a crown of moonstone that glowed with its own light.
Behind her, twelve Alphas knelt. From twelve different packs.
Vera stopped in the center of the dais. Where she’d once been rejected.
Her eyes found Kade’s.
He didn’t recognize her at first
Then his eyes dropped to her neck.
The scar was still there. But it wasn’t silver anymore. It was gold. And it had reshaped. Into a crown.
“Vera?” he whispered.
She didn’t answer him. Not yet.
She looked at the survivors. The ones who’d cheered. T and laughed.
Then she shifted.
The black cloak fell away.
And the white wolf filled the entire clearing.
Some wolves whined and pressed their bellies to the ground.
The Royal Luna Wolf, The legend made flesh.
When she shifted back, she was standing tall.
“I am Vera,” she said. Her voice didn’t shake. “And by decree of the Moon Goddess, I am the Alpha Queen of All Werewolves.”
one by one, every wolf in the clearing knelt.
All except Kade.
“You,” he said, voice hoarse. “You were nothing.”
Vera stepped down from the dais. She stopped in front of him. Close enough to see the fear in his eyes.
“I was nothing to you,” she said softly. “So I became everything to them.”
She raised her hand. The rejection scar glowed.
“I do not reject you back, Kade. I forgive you.”
His mouth opened.
“Because if you hadn’t thrown me away,” Vera continued, “I never would have found out who I was supposed to be.”
She turned away.
“Clean this place up. The Queen is home.”
And she walked out.
Twelve Alphas followed her.
And behind them is the white wolf.
The Rejected Luna is the Werewolf Queen. And she remembers everything.
