Eleanor of the Shadow Palace

Eleanor Bloomfield, a name everyone involved in the underworld recognized. She was a strong and a confident woman who knew any information one desired at the right price. But behind this luxurious and beautiful façade of a woman, was a dark past she used to become who she currently was.   Eleanor Bloomfield was an orphan. She was smart. She was a fighter. And she was willing to face anything just to get what she wants. The weirdest thing about her was probably that she was someone who remembered her previous life.   Eleanor’s previous life was filled with misery, anguish and suffering. She was used, discarded, abused and finally killed thru injustice means. She did not want to go through that again in her new life, in a new world, so she did her best to always come out on top. But beginnings were not always happy and smooth.   Her earliest memory as Eleanor Bloomfield was waking up in the middle of a blizzard when she was seven. She was cold, wounded and starved. She was taken in by a woman after she collapsed in front of that woman’s house, which then raised her at the edge of a city. The woman was a prized informant and g**g leader, and she raised Eleanor as her successor, teaching her everything she knew.   At the age of fifteen, Eleanor was already in control of the minor gangs in the city she lived. She ruled the downtown and made her way to form alliances with the big organizations.   One day, months after her eighteenth birthday, while out on a walk, she saw a car stop not that far from her. Its doors opened and a child no older than ten was thrown out. The car immediately sped out of the area once the child landed on the ground. Eleanor went to the child and was horrified to see him b****y and unconscious.   The child was Edmund Hunter, the illegitimate child of Victor Hunter, the boss of Sceptre, the biggest and strongest mafia organization in Europe and North of Africa. But Eleanor did not know that yet.   Eleanor took care of Edmund and stood as his mother, sister and best friend. She raised him and made him a part of her group.   At the age of twenty, Eleanor took over her foster mother’s business and already got her reputation as a skilled informant with wealth that could rival big businesses. Big shots would seek her and ask her for information about people, events, etc. She knew some of her methods may be wrong, but she was living the life where it was survival to the fittest. Meanwhile, Edmund was found out by his father and was asked to return to the Hunter Family.   “I don’t want to go back there.” fifteen year old Edmund said with tears running on his cheeks. “They don’t care about me. They threw me away! I’ll probably die there!”   “Ed listen to me.“ she said in a calming voice. “Your father has a reason why he wants you to return. He has no heir Ed, so now he wants you.”   “Wow, you already knew that?” Edmund said in a joking manner and dried his tears at the same time. “As expected of an informant. I still won’t go. I’d rather stay here with you.”   “You can’t stay with me forever Edmund.”   “Why not? You’re like the older sister I wish to have! I don’t care if I’ll be your servant. I don’t care if I have to kill for you. I want to stay with you!”   “Edmund! I’m not saying you have to leave and forget about me. We can still be siblings in anything but blood even if you’re with Sceptre.” she leaned closer and whispered, “And don’t you think this is a good opportunity to get back at the people who threw you away?”   Edmund, who was shocked and relieved at the same time, was speechless, but he agreed with her anyway.   For the last ten years, Edmund trained as the next boss of Sceptre. With Eleanor’s guidance and wide information network, he managed to get rid of his stepmother who was outraged at his existence. He also got rid of the elders who were against him and changed them with his own people. Edmund made Eleanor the adviser of Sceptre, and it started their golden years of reigning in the underworld of Earth.   But happiness was never constant in a person’s life.   Years later, Edmund and Eleanor arrived at a building. Edmund was going to talk to a group who wanted an alliance with Sceptre while Eleanor was going to be the witness and the mediator. But it turned out the alliance was a trap set by an enemy group and the two were ambushed. Edmund was hit in the abdomen by a bullet and was bleeding to death. Eleanor pulled him out of the way and then shielded him from incoming bullets.   “E!” Edmund, now a fully grown man was crying. “Why did you do that?”   “I’m your big sister i***t. Of course I’ll protect you.”   “Damn it! E! Eleanor! Don’t close your eyes! Stay with me! Stay-“   Eleanor could feel her consciousness slip away.   -Maybe I will finally be welcomed in the arms of death this time.
