Chapter 44 – Reunion
Jerry and Brandon made it back to the reception area. They burst in just as Shariel was about to open the door. Her eyes widened, and she stepped back.
“Where's Kajora?” Jerry asked, half-dragging Brandon through the door.
“I'm here.” She stepped forward. “We were just about to come looking for you.” Her eyes zeroed in on Brandon's arms. “I can't do much for him with just what I have in my pack.”
“We stole a car,” Calael said. He strode over to Brandon, picked him up, and cradled him in his arms.
“Thanks,” Jerry said, lungs heaving. He leaned over and put his hands on his knees. “I'm exhausted. It was all I could do to get him up here.”
