Calael drove them through Seagate and towards the spaceport. The car was currently passing through the Tier 3 settlements, and it would soon reach the causeway crossing the marsh.
“We're nearly there,” Jerry said to Brandon. “How are you feeling?”
“I think the drugs are wearing off.” He grimaced. There were fresh droplets of sweat on his forehead.
“I can't give you any more,” Kajora said. “Not until we get you into surgery. You'll need to hold out until then.”
“I'll try.” His lower lip trembled. He glanced at his bandaged stumps, and then quickly looked away, shutting his eyes tightly.
“Try to drink some more juice.” She held a bottle to his lips.
