“What?” Takang tanong ko kay Silas, ng makita na nakatingin ito sa pulsuhan ko. The redness of my wrist has been replaced by an ugly bruise. I don’t mind though, mawawala din naman kasi Ito after ilang araw.
Nagbuntong hininga is Silas bago inalis ang seatbelt nya kaya ginaya ko din ang ginawa nya ng maalis ko ang seatbelt ay tuluyan ko na syang hinarap.
He is frowning, mukhang kunsumido sa buhay, kanina pa sya wala sa mood ng sunduin ako at napatingin sa pala-pulsuhan ko. -.
“I’m just worried.” He sighed.
Napataas ang kilay ko.
“Huh? About?”
“You..” he paused and took a deep breath. “Look at what happened to your wrist. I know you love your cousins and you are close to them, but guys are stronger than girls physically speaking.. So I don’t understand-“
“North..I told you, walang kasalanan sila Phoenix, masyado kaming nag katuwaan, na nauwi sa harutan..I was trying to hit his arms and he caught my wrist, nag papalag ako..” I wrinkled my nose. “Oa lang din kasi kutis ko, madaling mamula or magkapasa.” Pag sisinungaling ko.
Nang bumalik kami sa vacation house ay pinakita ko agad sakanila ang wrist ko at pabirong nag sumbong na binully ako ni Phoenix at Reed na nauwi sa harutan. Nung una ay nainis pa si Silas at Kuya Yvo, pero nang makita nila na wala lang saakin at panay ang asaran namin ni Phoenix habang nagtatwanan ay naniwala sila sa palusot namin. I can’t think of any other excuse kasi at ayoko malaman nila ang nangyari because hell may break loose pag nagkataon. Yung reaction ni Yckos kanina is nothing if you will compare it to Kuya Yvo and Silas, I am so sure about that.
Silas just warned my cousins to be gentle with me, and my cousins apologized and promised that this won’t happen anymore.
“I’ll be leaving next week and I’m worried that-“
“North! They are my cousins, they won’t intentionally hurt me..they are actually my protectors.” I argued. I am one hundred percent sure that my cousins will always protect me and won’t hurt me..
Silas closed his eyes, sumandal sya sa headrest and pinched the bridge of his nose. He really looks worried and I don’t know what more I need to say para lang makombinsi sya at mapanatag.
“Should I not go-“
“North naman!” Frustrated kong sabi. May sakit ang Dad nya! He needs to go!
He opened his eyes. His hand reached for my face and started to caress it. I closed my eyes, I love the warmth of his hand.
“I’m missing you already.” He muttered.
Natawa ako at nag mulat ng mata, he looks like a child who’s about to throw a tantrums.
“Tsaka ka na mag drama, next week pa flight mo, malelate na ako sa class ko.. let’s go..” Natatawa kong sabi na mas ikisinimangot nya.
Nang makababa ako ng sasakyan ay mabilis nya akong sinalubong.
”I told you, always wait for me, I will open the door for you.” He groaned.
”Kaya ko naman.”
”I know, but you should be treated the way you deserve..” Malambing nyang sabi na ikinataba ng puso ko.
”Alright.” I nodded with a smile on my face. He took my hand and we started walking.
“Do you want to drop me off at the airport?” Biglang tanong nya.
“Hmnn..pwede naman since gabi pa flight mo. I’ll just ask Yckos to accompany me.”
He sighed.
“Thank you.” He said then finally he smiled at me.
“Gosh, sila na talaga? Lukas said pumasok sila together.”
“Obviously, sila na..look oh, mag ka holding hands!”
“Duh! What if flavor of the month lang si Silas yan, eh diba wala naman siniseryoso sila Silas. He hates commitments..”
“Kala ko nililigawan nya?”
“Maybe.. kasi ayaw na flings lang ni girl kaya kunwari manliligaw!”
They laughed. I am not bothered by what they think of us. They don’t know Silas that much, not because matagal na nila itong schoolmate ay mas kilala nila si Silas kesa saakin. I know Silas better than anyone else. For almost a month of being together, and for the past months na nanligaw sya, I learned to know him better. He has this wall he built for other people, but eventually he let me in. By just looking at him and observing him, I know when he feels disappointed, I know his habits when his frustrated and I know when he is lying.. I can see through him.
Silas stopped walking, napatingin ako sakanya. His brows furrowed and his jaw is clenched. He looks like he is in a bad mood na kataka taka dahil kanina lang habang nag lalakad kami sa field ay good mood pa ito.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. But instead of answering me, lumingon ito sa likod. Di pa na kuntento ay humarap sya sa mga babae sa likod namin.
“Omg! Hi Silas!” Kinikilig na bati ng isa. Samantalang ang isa nila kasama ay namumula at ang isa ay nag iwas tingin.
I pursed my lips, wala talagang kupas ang ka gwapuhan ni Silas. Obvious na gusto nila si Silas, kaya ang bitter nila.
“For the record, Cassiopeia and I are already in a relationship. She is not my fling or my flavor of the month. I am serious with her and I have never been this serious with a girl before because I haven’t met her yet. So stop spreading rumors that we will break up, because that won’t happen. Stop saying things that might hurt my girl!” Silas said before he turned to look at me. He grabbed my hand and pulled me with him. We left the girls dumbfounded.
“You know..Hindi mo na dapat sila pinatulan..their opinions don’t matter anyway. Besides, we don’t owe them an explanation.” I said. I truly appreciated what he did. I am actually touched, but like what I have said, what he did is unnecessary.
Silas stopped walking and turned to face me.
He looks frustrated.
“Love.. I don’t like what they are saying. I don’t want anyone to think that I am not serious with you, because I am.” He uttered in disappointment.
I smiled at him and walked closely to him. I cupped his face and made him looked at me. Buti naka heels ako, our height difference now is not that big.
“I know.” I paused. “But North. We cannot please everyone.. especially the girls, since most of them have a crush on you.” I giggled and he frowned. “So..we should expect that they can’t be happy for us.. some might even say bad things about me..some might try to separate us-“
“I won’t let that happen!”
“What I’m trying to say is..we can’t control what's happening to us, but what we can control is how we react and handle the situation. So let’s ignore our bashers and just enjoy life para mas lalo silang nainis” Nangingiti kong sabi bago ko sya kininditan.
“Ahhh.. I must be a good person on my past life to deserve you in this lifetime.” He chuckled and pulled me to an embrace. “Just don’t let them bully you.. especially when I’m away.”
Mabilis akong tumango tango. My face is on his chest and my hands are on his waist.
“Do you think they can bully a Carmichael?!” Naka smirk kong tanong.
“The better not, or it will be the end of their dreams.” He said, like it was a promise.
