The Billionaire's Offer

Maya stood frozen as Ethan Blackwood walked toward her. He was taller than she had imagined, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. His calm expression revealed nothing, but his sharp eyes studied her carefully. "So, you're Maya," he said. "Yes, sir." "I've reviewed your assessment." Maya held her breath, waiting for his verdict. "You handled the pressure well," Ethan continued. "Most applicants panic when they're tested. You didn't." A wave of relief washed over her. "Thank you, Mr. Blackwood." He nodded toward the chair across from his desk. "Sit." She obeyed. "I need a personal assistant who is organized, trustworthy, and willing to work hard," he said. "My schedule is demanding, and I don't tolerate dishonesty." "I understand." Ethan folded his hands. "Tell me why you want this job." Maya hesitated for a moment before answering honestly. "I recently lost my job. My younger sister depends on me, and I need a fresh start. I'm willing to work hard and prove myself." For the first time, Ethan's expression softened. "I appreciate honesty." Silence filled the office for a few seconds. Finally, Ethan stood and walked to the large window overlooking the city. Without turning around, he spoke. "The position comes with a generous salary, health benefits, and company accommodation if required." Maya's eyes widened. The salary alone would solve nearly all her financial problems. "But," Ethan continued, "working for me won't be easy." She swallowed nervously. "My business attracts powerful enemies. You'll hear confidential information and attend important meetings. Loyalty is essential." "I understand." He turned to face her. "Can you start on Monday?" For a second, Maya couldn't believe what she had heard. "...Does that mean I got the job?" A faint smile appeared on Ethan's face. "Congratulations, Miss Maya. Welcome to Blackwood Holdings." Joy filled her heart. "Thank you, Mr. Blackwood. I won't let you down." As Maya left the office with the employment contract in her hands, she couldn't stop smiling. But neither she nor Ethan noticed the man standing outside the glass office, watching them with cold, calculating eyes. He pulled out his phone and made a call. "She's been hired," he whispered. There was a brief silence before a voice answered. "Good. Keep watching her. She has no idea what she's just walked into." Maya stepped into the elevator, unaware that accepting the job had made her part of a dangerous game—one built on secrets, betrayal, and power.
