CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX Sara and Ruth hadn’t spent a day together in such a long time. Ruth had asked her if she wanted to go out and do something but they both knew she didn’t. It was a cold and gloomy November day. Sara wanted to stay in and suggested they watch a film together and maybe bake a cake for the men. Ruth thought that was a splendid idea. Sara tuned into the daytime television while Ruth went and had a shower first. She sat on the armchair with her feet curled up beneath her and took a moment to appreciate it, how nice it felt to not have to do anything. She wasn’t expected in at work.
