Ava's Point of View
The night seemed longer than any other night, and my thoughts were haunting me with each passing second. My heart and mind were in a serious negotiation, and my heart was losing the battle.
How I wish everything Ethan had said was a lie. Yes, I understand that Julian hated me with everything in his veins, but he's not a bad person; he wouldn't have left a pregnant woman to die alone. He's not capable of being so cruel.
But if he hates me the way he does, what can stop him from hitting a pregnant woman and leaving without looking back?
Tears streamed down my cheeks, cupping water in my hands, I splashed it over my face. It was cold against my skin, sending a slight shiver running down my spine. I had been crying for the whole night, trying to figure out what was the truth and what was a lie, but I couldn't come to a conclusion.
The door to the bathroom swung open, and the sound of heels against the floor echoed. I didn't bother to see who it was. This was a hospital bathroom, and anyone could use it. Even though I wanted to be alone right now, I couldn't.
“Ava...” Lily’s voice echoed in my ears. Why did she have to be here so early in the morning? I didn't have the energy to deal with her nonsense at all.
I grabbed a towel tissue and patted my face gently, getting rid of the water before I turned my attention to Lily.
She had a smirk on her lips.
“Oh, poor Ava, it must be hard to be you. I mean, you are losing everything to me.” Her voice was laced with sarcasm, her eyes scanning me from up and down gleaming with mockery.
I scoffed, crossing my arms over my chest. “And it must be nice to be you, right? At least I still have the title of being Julian's wife while you carry the title of being the other woman. How does it feel to ruin another woman's family? Does it feel good?”
Lily’s face turned red, her nostrils flaring with anger, but she still forced a smile. “You are the wife on the paper, but he walked with me down the aisle because I stole your wedding ceremony.”
I stared at her, waiting for her to continue talking. I knew just one word from me, and she'd burst into tears, and I wanted to attack her when she was speechless.
“Your son doesn't even love you. He'd rather take me to his school event than you. And you know what, he even told everyone at school that you are his nanny and I'm his mother. Look.”
She gestured to me with the bracelets on her hand. “Your son gave me your family heirloom bracelet as a good luck charm. They all love me more than they love you. You are just a useless fellow.”
She walked over to me, standing right in front of me.
I rested my hands on her shoulder, my grip tightening around them, causing her to flinch. “At least I still have many years left to live. What about you? You are a walking corpse with a few weeks to live. You are as good as dead, but I'm healthy and alive.”
Lily made herself fall on the ground and began sobbing. Just then, Julian and Peter stepped into the bathroom.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Lily was a good actor, but today I'm going to show her my worst side.
“Ava, how dare you say such a thing to Lily? How can you be so insensitive, and you even dared to push her! How dare you?”
Julian was shouting, his voice laced with rage, while Peter helped Lily to stand up.
I scoffed. “What did I say wrong? Isn't she going to die in a few months?”
My voice was sharp, dripping with venom. My emotions were all over the place already, and I'm not going to stand their nonsense. Not today. I'm too tired.
“Ava, apologize to Lily right now!”
Julian shouted, his eyes throwing daggers at me. I swear, if eyes could kill, I'd have died by now. Unfortunately, his eyes can't kill me.
“Sure, I will apologize to Lily for pushing her.”
A smirk tugged at the corner of Lily’s lips as she stared at me through her fake teary eyes.
I chuckled as I walked over to her. Standing a few steps away from her, I grabbed both her shoulders before I pushed her with so much force that she stumbled and fell on the ground. The sound of her screams filled the room, and this time, there was no fake.
“I'm sorry, Lily, for pushing you.” My voice was dripping with sarcasm as my eyes locked with her, real tears now streaming down her cheeks. “It was a mistake, I'm really sorry, please forgive me.”
“Ava!”
Julian roared like a lion. The sound of his voice echoed inside the bathroom. He lunged at me, ready to slam me, but I grasped his hand before it could even touch my skin.
“Enough, Julian Styles,” I pushed his hand away from me. “I've had enough of you, do you understand? The next time you raise your hand, I will send you to jail for the rest of your pathetic life.”
My heart was banging against my chest, rage coursing through my veins as I glared at him.
His mouth fell open as he stared at me, eyes wide open. He was shocked to see this angry side of me, but this was just the beginning; he will see even worse than this.
“And you!” I turned my attention to Lily, who was still on the floor.
“If you play your silly games with me, I will kill you before your time is up, and I'm sure you won't like that. Stay away from me, very far away, because once I lose my temper, you can't imagine what I'd do.”
Silence echoed in the room, the three of them staring at me with awe. Without a word, I started walking out of the bathroom, leaving the three of them in there.
Enough is enough, if they mess with me, then I'll show them what I'm capable of.
