I'm Ready

Ava’s Point of View It was still hard to believe that Julian would stand in front of the media telling the whole world that I had r***d him. At the same time, I couldn't take Ethan's offer. He was right with everything he had said, but getting married to him was the biggest step, and I didn't want to make another mistake and marry another spineless jerk like Julian. Marriage was the last thing on my mind right now. My only goal was to get divorced from Julian, take the child away from him, and send him to jail if he was responsible for my sister's death. Maybe I might relocate to another city and leave everything behind. That's my actual plan. Getting married or being involved in all these dramas was the last thing on my mind, but Julian and Lily are pushing my limits. I was lost in my thoughts that I didn't realize when I bumped into someone. I raised my head, ready to apologize, when my eyes met Lily's. I couldn't help but let out a scoff to see Julian along with Caleb with them. Of course, I should have known I'd meet with them here since Caleb and Charlie attended the same school. Lily let out a loud snort, her eyes scanning me from head to toe. “I knew you'd come clawing back to Julian like a dog once you ran out of money, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon,” Her tone dripped with sarcasm. Julian walked to us, he wrapped his arm around Lily’s waist, his eyes on mine. “I'm very kind, Ava, that's why I will let everything slide if you go on your knees and apologize to Lily, come back home, take good care of Caleb, and prepare a healthy meal for Lily as usual,” His eyes were cold as they bore into mine. I couldn't help but burst into laughter at their pathetic words. They are truly delusional. What makes them think I'd return to Julian even in my wildest dreams? I'd rather die than go back to that prison of a house. Even prison was better than living with Julian. Both Julian and Lily stared at me, eyes wide open with confusion. “I didn't think I'd hear such a cruel joke today, you know,” I shook my head in disbelief. “You've really made my day, but here's the reality check. I don't need a man's money to survive. I'm an independent woman, and I can pay my bills,” My voice dropped into a dangerous whisper. “I hope you've signed the divorce papers because very soon I'm going to get married. Please don't delay it anymore. I'm sure your dear Lily can't wait for you to make her your official wife before she dies.” Julian's jaws clenched, his nostrils flaring, angry. Lily’s face flushed red, her rage visible. “Mommy, you are so bad. I hate you!” Caleb shouted. I chuckled as I lowered myself to his level. “And you, my dear son, you are going to stay with me, and I don't care if you hate me. I won't let you be raised by a spineless man. I don't want you to become like your father.” “Ava!” Julian's voice echoed across the school entrance, laced with rage. Before any of us could utter a word, a group of media people and a group of people came rushing to us. My eyes caught a smirk curling at the corner of Lily’s lips, and I immediately knew this must be one of her plans. “She's the homewrecker!” “She should be punished for her behavior! “She's so shameless! “Hit her!” I covered my face with my hands as they threw raw eggs at me. Some were throwing stones and rotten tomatoes, drenching my dress with dirt. Julian and Lily laughed as if they were watching a drama. I couldn't even run away because they cornered me from side to side. I winced in pain as a stone hit my head, sending a sharp pain cutting through my skull. The stone was so big that I felt blood dripping from my head, dizziness started washing over me, and my vision was starting to blur due to the sharp pain from my head as they kept on hitting me. “What the heck is happening here!” The sound of Ethan's voice echoed, but I could barely see him. A sharp pain was throbbing in my head as more blood dripped down. “Take them all to the basement and hit them so much that they won't ever think of touching Ava again,” Ethan instructed, but at this point, I couldn't even stand. Before I could fall down, he wrapped his arm around my waist, stopping me from falling. “I want to make one thing clear, Ava is going to be my wife, and if any of you dare to lay your hands on her again, there will be hell to pay, and trust me, I mean it!” I couldn't stay awake anymore. I didn't even realize when I slipped into the darkness. I woke up to the sound of the beeping machine. As my eyes fluttered open, I took in my surroundings. I was welcomed by white and blue walls, and without a doubt, I knew I was in the hospital ward. The memories of everything that had happened started flashing back in my mind like a movie playing in my head. Every day, Julian gives me a reason to hate him, and today they've gone too far. I need to teach them a serious lesson. I've had enough of them. “Ava, are you alright?” I shifted my eyes to the sound of Ethan's voice. He was seated on the couch next to the hospital bed, his eyes flickering with worry. “I'm ready to work with you to destroy Julian and Lily.” I blurted out, my voice void of any emotions. They've hurt me more than enough, and now I'm going to make them suffer. Enough is enough. I've been kind for far too long. They don't deserve my kindness.
