Old Miller? No way!
THIRD PERSON POV
"Hua Zitong! Long time no see, I'll go straight to the point, I want your daughter Elena to marry into my family. I know you're in need of money, I'll offer you forty million dollars, you're not allowed to negotiate for more." The old man said.
"Why did you choose Elena? There are lots of other nice girls out there Miller."Hua Zitong replied.
"It's not like you care for the girl anyways, just give her to me and I'll continue to keep your dirty secrets." said the old man.
"Fine then, forty million dollars and she's yours." She said.
"What a despicable mother you are, you can come sign the contract next week to confirm the payment." He said as he left with his bodyguards.
*Days later>>>>>
ELENA’S POV
“No!!.... mom please…you can’t do this to me” I said amidst tears. I grabbed the edge of her gown trying to get her to look me in the eye but she didn’t budge.
“Mum *sobbing* please look at me” Mum finally snapped.
Using a lot of force, Mum pushed me to the floor, away from her and she yelled
“Elena!! why are you acting like this? why are you so selfish?!!” she turned away from me and she sat beside my elder sister who is currently in coma.
She held my sister’s hand and tears started streaming from her eyes.
“You’ll be alright my baby, I’ll get the money for the surgery soon, you’ll be fine.” Mom said while adjusting my sister’s hospital gown.
“Mom please...I…I p-promise I’ll do lots of part time jobs, I can afford her surgery, just give me time, I’ll work to pay the money, please...I-I can’t marry that man, you kno- “- Mum suddenly interrupted me
“Elena you have to marry him, we need to pay off our debts and get treatment for your sister, why are you so selfish? You’ll become the wife of a multi billionaire if you marry him, you’re the one benefitting the most anyways.” Mum said.
“Mummm” I yelled sobbing harder.
“You’re forcing me to marry a man whose identity is a mystery, all we know is that he’s rich, rumor has It that he’s an old man in his seventies!! Mum he could be a p*****t or a murderer or something worse."
"Please mum *my chest felt so stuffy from all the crying and my eyes felt like they were about to pop out as I struggled to keep yelling the words* you’re gonna ruin my life. ” I said more like I struggled to mumble because my head was throbbing.
I sat down on the floor beside my mom as I was out of tears already and all I could do was struggle to breathe.
“leave” my mum whispered but I could feel the spite in her voice.
I tried to get her to look me in the eyes but she avoided direct eye contact.
“Please leave, you’re disturbing your sister’s sleep and peace “My mom said looking in my direction managing to avoid eye contact.
I left the hospital and I walked almost 7 kilometers back home while sobbing in the rain. I went straight to my room which happens to be a space that was meant to be a closet. Yes…. it’s really small but I don’t mind. I sat down thinking about my life, wondering why I felt like the miserable person when I know that there are lots of people out there going through worse.
My name is Elena, Elena Anderson. I’m twenty years old, I’m a baker, I work part-time in lots of shops, with the hope of earning enough money to support my family.
I’m mixed, my dad is half black half white but he’s got really dark skin, my mom is half white half Chinese. Both my parents were raised in China. They had my sister when they were seventeen and they gave up their dreams to raise my sister, she meant the world to them.
My sister was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia when she was born and she was often sick while growing up, the reason my parents decided to conceive me was because my sister needed a bone marrow transplant.
So, they decided to have me. Growing up I was treated like I was just a spare parts thingy for my elder sister. I had to do all sorts of transplants to save my sister. Last year lots of blood was withdrawn from my body, I felt so weak but my mom couldn’t care less.
I was well fed and taken care of by my mom but the reason is just because she needed me to save my sister.
My father is a really caring man, I could tell that he didn’t love me any less than my sister, he treated the both of us equally.
My family kept on moving from China to America and then America to China for years because of surgery appointments. We finally stopped emigrating and we’ve been living in America for five years. My dad stayed back in China because of his job and we barely contacted him because of his busy schedule.
Despite everything, my sister and I loved each other regardless, we always felt pity for each other, she hated the fact that I had to donate lots to her and I hated watching my sister suffer every single time because of her illness.
My sister and I are five years apart, our facial features were splitting images but we had lots of differences apart from the similarities in our faces.
My sister’s skin was chocolate and I milk compared to her, we’d always joke that she stole the melanin all for herself. She had long curly hair but it was a pity she had to cut it short at one stage of her sickness but her hair was still getting longer and it was really pretty. I on the other hand have thick 4c hair…real struggle but I love it.
Somehow, my sister’s blood group was SS while I was AA. I feel like it’s part of the reasons why my mother despised me. My mother lost a lot while she was pregnant with me, she lost her shape, her modelling career, she had to get a lot of stitches because of me, and I came out perfect without any illness, it was like God favored me more than my sister,Lily. Her actual name is Anderson Li since she was born in China but we started calling her lily when we moved to New York.
I think that’s everything one could know about my family but there’s more...deep dark secrets … That nobody is ready to tell me.
