Of all the places in the city, why the hell did he have to be here?
The soft, ambient glow of the restaurant lights did little to soothe my rising anger. My jaw clenched as I spotted Reuben sitting at a table across the room, looking as smug as ever.
Emily stiffened beside me the moment her eyes landed on him, her surprise evident. That reaction alone confirmed one thing for me: she hadn’t known he would be here.
But I wasn’t buying the coincidence.
