I wasn't really the kind who woke up to a snoozing alarm, for my body had its own mindset and activity schedule. It's Monday morning. Standing up to have a glance at my face after sleeping with a promise to myself to be strong henceforth, I walked into the bathroom, washing my teeth and face before taking my bath.
Stepping into the kitchen to fix myself breakfast before heading out, that's the price to pay for not being the time to eat outside. Picking a few slices of toasted bread and a milkshake as breakfast, I headed out of the house down to the car park next block, for that's where my car parks. It's close to an orphanage home to avoid my greedy relations from also taking my source of livelihood from me.
Today, by lunch, I will be meeting with Mr. Venice at a coffee shop nearby to have the discussion he's so bent on having with a strange taxi driver he met on his couple movie night out. I do hope it's something I won't regret though. My mom groomed me to be wary of nice people, for there is always a gift to pay when dining with the devil.
"Taxi, taxi!" ??
A woman hastening down the street hailed me down. Pulling over, she hopped into the passenger seat before urging me to keep driving, to which I obliged. But after driving for close to thirty minutes or so, she suddenly requested I pull over at a grocery store where she hopped hastily out of the cab, tossing a hundred bucks to me.
Sighs.
Would today get any better with such people living around us, making our earth decline? For she was dolled up in varieties of makeup and cosmetics. "Who cares" were the kind of words her kind would always utter when spoken to about the Save Planet Earth or Green Earth project.
After about two more drops for the time being, I checked my wristwatch, seeing that it was close to our meeting time. As an etiquette of being a gentleman, lateness isn't appropriate. For there is no woman to get delayed about the dress to wear or hours spent on dolling up their faces.
I picked up my mobile from the pigeon cabinet, calling Mr. Venice.
"Hola Amigo," I said.
"Hola Simon," he replied.
The rest of the conversation was held with a little bit of Spanish and English. After our little Spanish convo, thanks to my choice of Spanish classes over literature, I was about to drive out of the parking lot when I was flagged down by a girl. I assumed she was of the same age as me, if not even a little younger than me. For girls, hormones are just like sprouted seedlings from fertilizers.
"The Cappuccino Castle," she said.
"Yeah sure, hop in."
I was so glad because that was where I was heading anyway to meet Mr. Venice. About halfway down traffic, she asked if I could please turn up the radio, to which I did. With the weather reporter rounding up the weather forecast, we'd get to the Cappuccino, the great of California.
She paid her bills, whispering a polite form of thank you. I reversed down the parking spot to gain access to the parking basement of the Cappuccino Castle.
Walking into the reception, I became withdrawn immediately by the number of the crowd I saw having their lunch like it was the canteen at high school.
I picked a booth secluded from the public glance before a waiter walked up to me, asking for my order.
"Gentleman, permit me to take your order," he asked.
"I'd hold on a bit to water as I wait in for my guest, who will be arriving any moment from now."
Picking up my mobile to notify Mr. Venice of my arrival, I saw a popped-up message, "Ordering already without me." Just as I raised my head to have a glance around the booth, I saw Mr. Venice talk to the waiter before he walked up to me.
"You're indeed a gentleman for possessing good etiquettes," Mr. Venice said.
Mr. Venice's POV:
I had felt a different aura around him, possessing the scent of a hybrid naive werewolf. I immediately knew he was the orphaned son of my Alpha, having been his beta for about ten centuries before he left the pack after falling in love with a human and shedding off his wolf humane as a sacrifice for his love to his wife.
His child seems to be unaware of the fact that he's a hybrid werewolf who is the next alpha in line to the pack.
I walked into the Cappuccino Castle, having known him as someone who loves seclusion, most especially from the eyes of the public after the death of his parents. I stopped by the waiter, asking for a new order for both of us upon discovering that he'd only ordered for water, probably while he awaits my arrival.
Author POV:
The waiter went to get the orders ready while Venice walked up to Simon at the booth, shaking each other's hand as if they've known each other for the past decade. Meanwhile, Venice has known Simon when he was a kid before moving out of California to Hawaii along with Veronica to spend their time as a single couple before the arrival of their kids.
After about a few minutes of sitting down, each making up little conversations before the waiter arrives with their orders.
Simon POV:
"I have never had to sit this close to someone aside from the classroom, laboratory, or during public rides, but here we are sitting with him, probably waiting for me to strike up a conversation. Just when I wanted to ask him if we could get straight to the point or his reason for wanting us to meet at the Cappuccino Castle, the waiter walked in with what I assume to be our orders, literally ordered by Venice for us both.
"Wait a moment. How does he get to know about the kind of dishes I love and the way I want them? I couldn't remember having such a discussion with him or Veronica."
"I guess my look gave it all out before I could move my lips to utter what my looks already have out. 'You don't have to be surprised about the dishes,' he said. 'I've known you right from when you were a kid.'"
"But I don't remember knowing you or Veronica."
"'Well, let's say you were too little to remember me, Uncle Ven, who comes every weekend to babysit you while your dad and mom were at their company, leaving their best buddy to babysit their kid.'"
"'Wait a moment, you're the babysitter who's scared of the dark???'
"'Yeah, if you'd put it that way, yeah I was the babysitter, and also your parents' best buddy as well.'"
"'So why are we here, Uncle Ven?' I asked in-between steak of meat dipped in the pepper sauce nabbing the table fold at my lips to avoid gross looks from the onlookers."
"'Well, let's talk about you and life, perhaps,' he said, smirking his lips."
"'I'm all ears, Uncle.'"
"'So when is your trip to Pennsylvania??'"
"I was dumbstruck because it was just me & my parents who were aware of my college at Pennsylvania."
"'You don't have to act like you were struck by lightning.'
"'Yeah, exactly just like you struck me with vital information I never shared with anyone.'"
"'Well, you could say that again, but just for your info, I was kept updated about you by your parents, shocked ??
Well, my trip to college is in about 2 weeks from tomorrow onwards.
So, about that, I will be taking care of your accommodation so you could use your savings for other important stuff. And I don't take no for an answer, Sim," he called.
"Wow, I'm beginning to assume you work with the Russian spies to kidnap orphans," I said in between laughs, but deep down, my mind was a mess on how he could get so much information on me. And I just know what? His name and that of his wife?"
