Chapter 12

1230 Words
Hey Amelia! I hope you aren't hurt?” Damon asked Amelia while still putting on an emotionless face. 'Where's this coming from? God knows the beast I know can't just do this if not ordered to.' Amelia thought to herself since she never expected Damon to care. She got dumbfounded, and even the look on her face could tell that the question from Damon took her unaware. She knew not whether Damon was using it as a truck to get something more tangible from her, or that's how he used to behave. For that reason, she couldn't easily decide her next mood, since that might determine what happens next. “Amelia, I hope you are not hurt” Questioned her once again while gazing at Amelia's face, creating eyeball contact. Though nothing was speaking on his face ever since Amelia arrived at his house, he's never bothered whether she was hurt or not. 'This b***h appears to be serious'. Amelia thought to herself. She knew not whether Damon would maintain the same energy when she turned her lively part to him. “I'm okay, Damon. Just that I was a bit scared of what she might do. Though I'm still scared now…” Amelia finally muttered a few words in response to Damon's question. “That's fine. It won't repeat itself.” Damon said while still putting on a remorseless face. “Ok. Thank you, Damon.” Amelia commended him while trying all she could to return the energy since she knew not whether it might change her situation in his house. “You're welcome, Amelia” Damon replied as though he was concerned. Innocent Amelia couldn't comprehend what was happening. She found herself swimming in an ocean of confusion. All she was saying in response to Damon was just not to sound blunt. But already, she wasn't leading herself and her words. Not to talk about the environment. While she was still wondering about where the sudden change in mind came from, Damon instantly walked gently to his seat. Though, he made it more friendly so that no one would imagine if there was anything wrong. “But Damon, who is that lady to you?” Amelia asked affectionately, while still maintaining the same atmosphere with which Damon questioned her earlier. Damon feigned to be deaf at the moment. He didn't even flinch, as though he heard what Amelia said. Amelia, who thought she wasn't audible enough, reiterated her words, but since Damon didn't reply, she guessed that the beast must have been restored to the factory's setting. That got her more confused. 'Why would a human being switch the mood of a beast and that of a humble human? Beasts and humans don't cohabit but a human turns to exhibit the character of both, is that not questionable?' She thought. She couldn't make her interrogations with a louder voice, since she could imagine what might be Damon's actions if he gets infuriated. But didn't clear her doubt whether Damon was a human or a beast per se. She turned an embarrassed look at Damon, but the guy was more interested in operating his computer gadget than attending to what she was saying or what might be running through her mind then. “Damon, Damon…” She called after looking sideways but found no guard on duty. But Damon was less concerned. 'This is the worst mistake I will ever make in my life. What even brought me here? I'm doomed!' Amelia murmured to herself. Since she got no response to her question, she kept silent and the room turned into a graveyard if not more in quietness. ****************** Danciana couldn't be deliberate in what to think of while in the car going home. Truly, she was doing nothing since her driver was driving her home and her bodyguards were on both sides, but she was sweating profusely. She reached out for her smartphone. Unlocked it and then swiped up and down, but found nothing interesting to do with it. She threw it back into her purse that was right by her side. Furthermore, she scratched her head, confused, and bit her thumb. Even someone who didn't know what transpired in Damon's house would know that something was wrong. How bodyguards knew what ensued and also knew that they weren't in the best position to talk to her. Meanwhile, they concentrated on their jobs. Just in a few minutes, the car arrived at a place that looked like an executive hotel. The horticulturist taking care of the flowers must know his onions. The flower arrangement was top-notch. There were two elegant mansions in the same compound, and they were built and furnished in a way that would be more difficult for someone to determine the more beautiful one. Danciana couldn't even wait a moment once the vehicle halted before she alighted and hurried into one of the buildings. As she hurried into the building, she exposed the beauty of the building. Things were in order. The interior decor wasn't just something to joke with. The gadgets and everything used to decorate the house looked so superior that one need not ask about the owner before knowing that it belongs to a wealthy man. “She pushed open an expansive room. Though I do not know whether to call it just a room since in everything, it looked more than a room. An older woman was sitting before a wall mirror while polishing her face with something that was more brush-like. Immediately, Danciana opened the door unannounced, the woman whispered while turning her gaze towards the door. “And who must be the one to barge into someone's room without seeking permission…?” Danciana's face was pale and someone could easily note that something was wrong. She bothered not to reply to the woman, but went and sat on the wide bed while expressing her anger. “Hmm, my daughter, who must be the cause of this anger? What's wrong?” The woman asked while standing up from her seat and walking majestically to Danciana. “Mummy, things are not just right.” Dancinana replied. “It's possible on your face. What's wrong? What happened?” “Damon is…” She muttered. “What did he do? The mother interrupted her daughter. “ I couldn't believe what my eyes saw today…” “Hmm, what happened please!” The mother got more infuriated that she couldn't just allow her daughter to finish answering any question before asking another. Then Danciana narrated all that happened to her. Her mother wasn't supporting what Damon did, but her fury wasn't as it was at war at the beginning of the story, even though her daughter was crying while narrating the incident. After listening to Danciana, she nursed her as she could and promised her that she would help her to chase Amelia out of Damon's house and life. Diana suggested that she wants Amelia to be killed, but the mother refused to be with her. Rather, she stood her ground that they should force Amelia out of Damon's house. Since Danciana was languishing in fury, she kept reiterating that Damon must pay for his offense, no one knows how she would make him pay. The mother who knows the right path into her daughter's heart calmed her down by making promises to her.
