"Why don't we get out of here?" I whisper to Ameilia after her third glass of wine. I was somewhat surprised that she was drinking, I've seen her at a few parties, but I've never actually seen her drink before.
"But the party's still going," she whines, and then gives me an adorable pout that makes me chuckle.
"We helped get the whole thing set-up, and these ingrates will be here until after midnight. We don't have to stay that long."
"Hmmm, okay I guess I'll go with you. But only because you're cute."
I laugh, "I think you've had a little too much to drink." She gives me a confused look then huffs, but she still stands up and hooks her arm into my elbow and follows me out. We can't find Raven or Thor, so I just text him a goodbye. They're probably celebrating her pregnancy and I really don't want to walk in on that so I'm not gonna keep looking for them. Then we say goodbye to the other brothers that are there, and much to my annoyance, Ameilia grabs Lucky and pulls him in for a big hug.
"She hugged me Prez," Lucky says laughing when I glare at him. I'm finally able to get her outside and on my bike.
"Don't do that again," I tell her as I pull her arms tightly around my waist.
"Do what?"
"Flirt with my men."
"I wasn't flirting," she hiccups.
"You were flirting with Lucky."
"I just gave him a hug, he's nice to me."
"Well don't do it again."
"Whatever you say Prez," she says in a mocking tone, making me want to slap her ass.
"Just hold on tight, don't let go." We leave and I take her on a slightly longer route, but one that doesn't have as many winding roads. After about forty minutes I pull over and help Ameilia off. She's staring at me like I hung the moon and the starts when I take her helmet off.
"That was amazing."
"You've never been on a bike before?"
"Never."
"Glad I could be your first," I wink at her, the innuendo not slipping her notice when she starts laughing.
"Whatever," she says blushing, "where did you bring me?"
"Come on, we just have to walk up here a little bit." We walk up a short path and come to a stop I turn so that I can watch her face when she sees it. There's a pond just up ahead, but it sits right on the top of the hill overlooking the city. Even though you can see the city, you can also clearly see the night sky directly above us.
"Wow," she breathes out, "what is this place?"
"My mom used to bring me here when I was little. She said it was her own little slice of heaven, I thought you might enjoy it. Even if you are a little tipsy," I say joking, but she gets that same look on her face that she had at the house.
"This place is incredible, but that's the second time you've mentioned me drinking."
"It's not a big deal, you were at a party."
She shakes her head before looking at me, "but I don't drink."
"Firefly, I saw you pour your own wine. No one poured you anything did they?" I ask, the thought making me want to strangle someone.
"No, but I brought nonalcoholic wine. It keeps people from pestering me to drink," she explains at the look on my face.
"I don't think you were drinking your wine then."
"Yeah, I put it in the fridge, I didn't see any other wine in there, and Raven wasn't going to drink."
"No," I chuckle, "but the honeys got into the wine that was in there while we were setting up. Tony had one of the brothers stop and pick up another bottle because he didn't want Raven to get upset that someone drank her wine."
"But she's pregnant, she wouldn't have drank it anyway."
"Yeah, well I didn't say he was the smartest person in the world. I laughed at him when I saw him putting it in the fridge, that's the only reason I know. He did look a little embarrassed once I pointed that out."
"But I don't drink," she says again, starting to sound a little hysterical.
"You only had a few glasses."
"But I don't drink," she says, her eyes filling with tears. "I don't drink, I can't, not after what happened."
"What happened Firefly?" I ask, but then her tears keep coming, so I pull her in into me instead, wrapping my arms around her and letting her cry it out. I've seen one too many women get overly emotional while drinking, so while I'm curious about what happened that made her not want to drink anymore, I also know in this state she's probably making a mountain out of a mole hill.
"I c-can't talk about it," she finally tells me.
"You don't have to talk about anything tonight. Why don't we just sit her for a bit."
"Okay."
We sit there for almost two hours. Neither of us talk, but it's not weird, it's a comfortable silence. She even puts her head on my shoulder, and I'm pretty sure falls a sleep for a little bit at some point, because she jerks her head up looking around wildly.
"You're good Firefly," I tell her and her head snaps up to look at me.
"Sorry, I fell asleep there for a minute."
"I could tell," I laugh. "Come on, I'll give you a ride home."
"Oh no, that's fine. Just bring me back to Raven's place. I have my car there."
"You sure about that? After those few glasses of wine you might not want to actually drive."
"Oh God," she says, her hand flying to her mouth. "I can't believe I drank that wine," her face crumples as she says it, and I don't understand why it's making her so upset. "No you're right, I shouldn't drive."
"I was just joking. You had like two, maybe three glasses hours ago. You're fine now."
"No, I'll just sleep in my car and drive home in the morning."
"Or I could drive you home."
"Um, no that's okay."
"You're not sleeping in your car," I growl at her. I should insist she lets me take her home so I can "find out" where she lives and demand she leaves without admitting I put a guy on her. But watching the battle rage in her eyes because she doesn't want me to know makes my chest feel tight. "Come on, you can sleep at the clubhouse."
"I don't know-"
"You can come sleep at the clubhouse, or I drive you home. Those are your two options. I promise I won't try anything, Scouts honor."
She laughs at that, finally, "I highly doubt you were a boyscout."
"You'd be surprised."
"Okay, fine, but please keep your word." I stare at her about to just nod and agree but f***k it.
"I promise I won't lay a hand on you until you're begging me to," I whisper in her ear, and f***k if seeing the goosebumps pop up on her neck don't have me hard in an instant. I ignore her gasp as I put by hand on the small of her back and steer her towards my bike. "Let's go Firefly, gotta get some sleep," I wink at her face and revel in the feel of her hands on me once again.
