Chapter 11 - Ameilia

1407 Words
Before I can say anything to James, he here a loud nose coming from upstairs. "Was that a whoop?" James asks, sounding confused. "I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was." "What do you know?" he asks me suspiciously. "Nothing." "You know," he says taking a few steps closer to me. I find myself pinned against the fridge since I took a step back every time he got closer. "I have ways of making grown men talk, I doubt it would be much of a challenge for me to find out." He lifts his hand up to my face and runs a finger over my cheek, so softly I almost feel like it didn't happen. But the heat left in the wake of his touch can't be imagined. I shiver under his gaze and feel him lean in, my breathing picks up and I know that he notices. "So tell me firefly, what is it you know?" He thinks I'm so weak I'll bend to his will just because he got close to me. I mean sure, he smells amazing, his hair has that just out of bed look to it, and his face is something an artist would sculpt. But I'm not that weak-willed, not anymore. Not ever again. "Okay," I say quietly nibbling on my lip like I'm trying to actually keep it a secret. "You promise you won't tell anyone?" "You know it firefly." "Okay, well," I look down at the ground for a minute before I pick my head up and look him straight in the eyes. "Raven has finally decided to give pegging a chance and she wanted to show Luke the big strap-on that she got for him." James' eyes go so wide I think they'll roll out of his head and I'm pretty sure I see his cheeks start to redden. After a few seconds I can't help it and I burst out laughing, the shocked and confused look on his face makes me laugh even harder, until I'm laughing so hard I start to cry. After a minute James picks me up, spins me around, and sets me down on the island. I'm so shocked I completely stop laughing. "Don't stop," he demands. "Don't stop what?" I ask startled. "Laughing, I've never heard you laugh. Not really I mean, I've heard you chuckle before, but never like that." He reaches out and traces his finger along my lips, I don't know what's gotten into me, but when he runs his finger by my lips a second time they open, the smallest amount, but he notices, he notices everything. "Go out with me." "Huh?" I ask, waiting for my brain to come back online, because I'm pretty sure he just asked me out, but that can't be right. "Go out with me. You and me tonight. I want to take you on a ride, show you something." "Oh uh, I don't know. Isn't this barbeque thing like all night affair? I don't want to leave Raven hanging." This is also my only night off, and I would really like to try and catch up on some sleep. Plus, I don't know if it's really a good idea to get closer with James. I know I'd just be like another notch in his belt. But who knows, maybe that's actually what I need, because God knows I can't have a relationship with him most of all. He could dig, and it wouldn't be good. "Hey, I can practically see steam coming out of your ears with all that overthinking of yours. I'm not proposing or anything, I just want to take you for a ride." "Okay," I whisper before I can keep talking myself out of it. Maybe it would be fun to relax just for one night. "That's my girl," he says as he slowly moves his hands down my legs and back up to my hips, helping me off the island. There, I didn't think that you'd be able to make that jump. I'm saved any response when Luke comes charging down the stairs carrying Raven. "Let me down," she yells, but her voice is full of laughter. "No, I'll never let you down again." "That's not possible." "Maybe not, but you need to be careful." "I'm only a few weeks along." "A few weeks along what?" Tony asks, as he and Lucky come into the house carrying big cases of beer. "Boys, my woman here is knocked up!" Luke yells, it takes all of half a second for the men in there to start yelling so loud, I'm surprised the whole house doesn't shake. "Can't wait to have a little mini me running around, hopping on bikes." "Or a mini Raven," Tony points out, which wipes the smile right off Luke's face. "S.hit," he says, looking directly at Raven with abject horror on his face, much to her amusement. "It has to be a boy, I cannot handle a little you running around. If we have a girl she's going to need to be locked up until I'm dead." "You're ridiculous do you know that?" Raven asks but the smile on her face hasn't disappeared. I smile myself watching her. I've known Raven for a few years now, and I've never seen her as happy as she has been with Luke. It's actually pretty amazing because you would never watch that woman in court, or going over contracts and think she could be this happy of a person. I watch as Tony walks up and pulls her into a giant bear hug, much to Luke's clear annoyance. "Tony," Luke says after Tony finished congratulating Raven, "This isn't going to be fair of me to ask, but," "No need brother," Tony says holding his hand up, clearly knowing what Luke is going to ask, but leaving me confused. "I'll keep an eye on her when you can't be around. If we're both busy we'll put two prospects on her." "Thanks brother," Luke tells him. I don't know much about the MC rules, but I know enough to know that guard duty is usually left to the prospects. I'm assuming Luke felt like it would be beneath Tony, but Tony is like a big brother to Raven, even though he's younger. He's fiercely protective of her, almost as much so as Luke. And it would appear the protectiveness is about to kick it up a notch, or twenty, with this new revelation. "You were right," Raven tells me as she settles right next to me. "He was so excited he almost canceled the whole barbeque so he could keep me upstairs, if you know what I mean." I laugh as she wiggles her eyebrows at me, "I do in fact know what you mean. James was talking my ear off while you two were up there, so I'm going to go ahead and start getting all this stuff set up now before anyone else gets here. Do you already have tables up in the back?" "No, but I'll have Lucky help you grab them. Thanks for helping with all this by the way. Not just the party either, but the advice earlier." "Of course, your my friend Raven." "Well you're my best friend so," she gives me a smug look like she just one-upped me in the friendship department. But I'm more surprised than anything. "Really?" I ask, I don't think I've ever had a best friend. On top of being kind of an introverted person, I went to private school growing up, and the only people that ever really hung out with me just wanted to get close to my parents, or my brother. I learned after the first few years of Junior High, that I couldn't trust anyone, so I shut myself off even more. Raven has been my first real friend in almost my whole life, and her considering me her best friend makes my chest ache, in a good way. "Of course," she says, her face and tone softening. "That is if you don't mind being besties with an old woman." "Shut up," I gently hit her shoulder, "you're not old at all. And even if you were I wouldn't mind one bit." I tell her before I head outside to start setting up. Lucky and James come out to help, and with them doing all the heavy lifting everything is ready in about fifteen minutes.
