The Unexpected Mate

Chapter Two

We are on our way to the Red Moon pack, my brother, Julius, has found his mate and Luna. His mate is the Alpha's only daughter, Aubrey. I am hoping that I will find my mate soon, I do not want to be looking for my mate for a long time. It is just me and my sisters travelling to the Red Moon pack. Our parents and Julius are already there. They were invited to Aubrey's first shift. When she shifted for the first time, they knew that they were mates. Now we are headed to Red Moon pack for their mating ceremony. When our mother called to tell me to get myself and my sisters ready to travel to Red Moon pack, she told me that Julius had found his mate and Luna.

I am so happy for him, he could sense that she was close, we just didn't know how close until now. He was always on edge because he could sense her but not find her, now we know it is because she had not shifted yet. When our parents and Julius were invited to Aubrey's first shift, Julius jumped at the opportunity to get out of Silver Moon pack for a little while. He mind-linked me when they were about halfway there to tell me that he could sense her even more now. That could only mean one thing, she was in Red Moon pack. Julius was over the moon knowing that he would finally be able to locate her now. Once they arrived he called to tell me that his mate was definitely a member of Red Moon pack.

Anubis, Julius' wolf could feel the pull of the mate bond as soon as they entered Red Moon territory. He could feel it, but he could sense that she did not feel it, which only meant that she had not shifted yet. Even though she had not shifted, he would still be able to find her and know who she is. Once she shifted, her wolf would seek out her mate, and they will be drawn to each other. He told me that due to the draw and her scent, he believed that Aubrey, the Alpha's daughter was his mate. He also said he would know for sure once she shifted.

I asked him if he was one hundred percent sure that she was his mate. He said that he was. I was happy for him and a little jealous at the same time. I am the second oldest, Julius is the oldest, then me, then Gwenyth and the youngest is Faith. I am only a year younger that Julius. I have already had my first shift, though it was not as big of a deal as Aubrey's, with her being the oldest and only daughter of Alpha Samuel and Luna Carmen. I got a call from Julius about two hours after they arrived, he was very excited and talking very fast, apparently, when Aubrey shifted not only was she a rare white wolf, but she was definitely his mate and future Luna.

Shortly after that call was when my mother called and here we are. My sisters are talking non-stop, hoping to at least sense some semblance of their mates even though neither one of them are eighteen or shifted yet.

"Ashley?" my wolf, Maya, asks me.

"What is it Maya?" I ask him.

"Are you sensing it too?" she asks.

"Our mate? Yes, Maya, I sense him too, he is close," I tell her.

"Yes he is, I do believe he is in Red Moon pack," she tells me.

"I was thinking the same thing, as we get closer to Red Moon pack, the more I can sense him," I tell her.

"I know, I am very excited to meet him," she says.

"Maya, what if he doesn't like us and rejects us?" I ask her.

"Then he would most certainly be an i***t, and he would die for that slight, Julius and father would make sure of that. Just be sure that if that happens, you must accept the rejection, otherwise when he dies so do we," she tells me.

"Thanks for the reassurance," I tell her sarcastically.

"I was just stating a fact, besides I don't think our mate is an i***t," she tells me with a smile.

"Maya, do you already know who our mate is?" I ask.

"No, I don't, I just sense that he will not reject us," she says.

"I hope you are right, I have been waiting for this since the first time we shifted," I say.

"Don't worry, our mate is going to love us and want us no matter what," she says.

"Thank you, Maya, for the pep talk, I was freaking myself out for no reason, he would have to be a complete moron to go against Julius and father in such a way," I tell her.

"Right you are," she says.

As we get closer to the Red Moon pack, I sense him even stronger. Maya is walking in circles in my head. I don't mind the pacing, because I know she is just anxious to meet our mate, so am I.

We are pulling into the Red Moon pack and Maya is on high alert, we are so close to our mate. We got to the pack house and we all go inside, the Alpha has us ushered into the common room. We are in there for a matter of seconds when the Alpha and Luna come in to greet us. They are gracious and warm. I am standing with my sisters, talking to the Alpha and Luna when the most intoxicating smell of vanilla and Bourbon invades my senses. Maya is jumping for joy as she informs me that our mate is really close and the scent I am smelling is his scent. I am so nervous, I don't know how to act right now. I just want to run into his arms but I am so nervous that he won't like me, but Maya tells me to calm down, because she can sense that he wants us just as much as we want him. His wolf is trying to figure out which one of us is his mate. Between me and my sisters, he is not sure which one of us is his mate. He can sense us but not which one of us it is. Maya is toying with him, by not letting him talk to her.

"Maya, stop toying with him, we have waited long enough, and I think he has to," I tell her.

"But I am just having a little fun Ashley," she says.

"We have both waited more than enough time for each other, just talk to him already," I tell her.

"Okay, okay, Ashley I will let him talk to me and feel him out for us," she says.
