Emily opened her eyes. She could hear the distant sound of her mother calling to her.
Carefully, she slipped out of bed, making sure she did not disturb Stella lying beside her, and made her way over to the window to look for her.
But there was no sign of her.
Wrinkling her nose in frustration Emily looked both ways to see if she could see her in the shadows, but to no avail.
She asked her mother where she was, and why she was hiding from her.
Her mother answered her in her usual way.
Emily smiled as she listened and nodded.
Excitedly she ran over to the bed and began shaking her sister awake.
Stella reluctantly opened her eyes and blinked several times. “What’s the matter?” she asked, nervously. “Is everything alright?”
