Divorce

Chapter 9

Lana and Mel were still in the car when Derrick arrived in his car with his PA.

Lana was in a daze but when she saw him she jolted back to reality. She immediately turned to Mel "How is he here?".

"Lana I had to do something, I couldn't just leave you like this" Mel quickly explained.

"What!! I can't believe you, how could you do this to me, you're supposed to be my friend"

Lana yelled in disbelief.

"I know and that's exactly why I called him, I won't let you sleep outside especially not in this state"Mel retorted.

"Fine, I guess I'll have to help myself then" with that Lana opened the door and walked out slamming the door with a thud.

Derrick also got out of his car when he saw Lana "Lana"he called her but she ignored him and stomped away.

"Lana, let's talk okay, I can explain everything" he said going after her.

"I don't want an explanation Derrick just leave me alone" Lana kept walking without looking back.

But Derrick caught up with her before she could cross the road and held her hand

"Wait, at least hear me out"

"Let me go Derrick" Lana said without looking back.

Let's go I'll explain everything" Derrick said.

"I won't go anywhere with you, go push your mistress around " Lana turned around and retorted.

And that was the last straw, Derrick grew up as the rich kid, every one worshiped the ground he walked on and he never had to repeat his commands, yet here Lana was talking back at him and being naive when they didn't even have feelings for each other.

He begun dragging her to the car by force, out of anger he held her wrist tight enough to redden and pulled her to the car.

Lana was taken by surprise "What do you think you are doing? Let me go Derrick. I'll scream if you don't stop, You're hurting me"

By now they had gotten next to the car and Derrick opened the door and pushed her into it and locked it.

"I'll take a cab home sir" Nick Derrick's PA suggested and gave the keys to Derrick.

Nick and Mel stared at the car as Derrick drove off, both wondering when their bosses started having lovers quarrel.

The car was quiet, maybe too quiet ,Lana looked outside lost in thought, Derrick glanced at her from time to time, he knew all this was his fault, he shouldn't have gotten involved with Britney but he wanted to know the level of damage Britney did to get her Soo pissed so he asked " What did she tell you"

"Nothing you don't know already" Lana said with a smirk.

That was it, Derrick parked the car and looked at her intently, "Nothing happened between us l, Lana I was too drunk to do anything "

Lana wanted to believe him but a part of her just couldn't drop the matter "What kind of cheating husband would admit that he actually cheated, what do you take me for Derrick, some stupid woman"

"And you think I wouldn't know if I f****d someone, Lana if I wanted another woman I could just get a divorce" Derrick yelled at her, he couldn't stand her mistrust.

The mention of divorce brought a bunch of new fears in Lana's mind, she loved him now and never imagined that he would even think about divorce she didn't want to loose him, she she felt a gush of tears on their way and bit her lip in an attempt to keep them at bay.

She looked away because she didn't want Derrick to see her in such a vulnerable state.

But as much as she tried a tear managed to escape, she looked outside the window and allowed them to flow.

Derrick saw her weeping, he knew his words probably hurt her but he didn't know how to console her so he just began to drive in silence.

When they got back he wanted to say something but she left the car immediately the engine stopped, like she couldn't stay in the same space with him.

She didn't even respond when Esther welcomed her, she went straight upstairs to her room and locked the door and she let all the tears she had bottled up come without any intention to stop. Derrick also went to his room exhausted he took off his tie undressed and took a shower he couldn't stop thinking of what had happened, there was no denying that he had hurt Lana, as the cold water ran over his skin a feeling of guilt overwhelmed him.

After letting all her tears fall Lana also took a shower as she wore her night gown, there was a knock on the door she hesitated before opening it only to see the person she least expected, Derrick.
