Chapter 4

"Wait where are you going" Mel called out to Lana.

"Where else, to his office of course, if I call out to him and he doesn't come , i have no choice but to go to him myself "Lana said with some new found confidence.

So with Mel's help and direction Lana went to Derrick's company, and it was three times the size of her company not forgetting the other branches they had world wide so it was understandable if Derrick was really busy being the CEO,but that still didn't allow her to be ignorant about his marriage.

When they got to the highest floor it was busy, they obviously didn't take their work easily, but they did acknowledge her with their greetings, it was obvious they knew her as their boss's wife but the surprised looks on their faces didn't go unoticed by Lana.

"Don't worry about the looks, it's just that you haven't really visited much since you married Mr. Preston", Mel assured Lana because she thought Lana would feel a bit awkward because of the looks she was getting from the employees.

"Like I care "Lana said with a smirk on her face, in her past life she had been through a lot she wasn't getting scared due to a few looks, she was here to get her husband and nothing would scare her away.

Mel led Lana to Derrick's office but before she could enter a woman blocked her path.

She looked like she was in her twenties, she had long blonde hair which fell on her back almost to her butt, her figure was perfectly highlighted by her dress which fitted her perfectly. There was no doubt that she was beautiful, she looked like one of the models on magazine covers.

"Miss I'm sorry but you can't go in there, Mr. Preston is in a meeting and he has made it clear that he doesn't want to be botherd" the

lady as said in a polite manner which pissed Lana off even more.

"Miss you clearly don't know who this is, she's Misses Preston, and she's here to see her husband" Mel tried to clarify thinking it was just a misunderstanding but with an even bigger smile the lady said " I know exactly who you are Miss Lana but Mr. Preston did not make any exceptions with regards to his wife".

It was clear that this Lady didn't like Lana and Lana was past caring with a cold voice she asked "And who are you?"

"Sorry for not introducing myself, My name is Lucy Gray, the secretary of Mr. Preston " she had a smirk on her face and it made Lana feel like strangling her, she couldn't believe Derrick worked with her, as his secretary she was probably everywhere he was, they were probably close no wonder Derrick didn't like coming home, she wondered if he was cheating on her, because that would explain why he barely came home but she quickly dismissed that thought because she barely knew Derrick she couldn't make conclusions like that right now her sole aim was to fix their relationship and this Lucy could not stop her, she gave her a wry smile and said

"Lucy or whoever you are am here to see my husband and I won't let a flimsy thing like you get in my way, so move out of my way"

"Miss Lana.....

"It's Misses Preston to you, understand"

"Misses Preston please bear with....

"What's going on here?" Derrick who had just closed from a meeting said, he looked even more handsome in person, he was tall and not a single strand of his hair was out off place, his expression was hard to read, he had his eyes precisely on Lana and it made her happy at least she had an effect on him.

"Derrick there you are , I came to see you" she would deal with Lucy later on right now Derrick came first.

Derrick took Lana to his office and her to sit like she was a client, his expression was hard to read deeply but it was obvious he wasn't pleased with her visit he stared at her from his seat across his desk.

"What are you doing here" Derrick was the first to speak.

L:"Well you've been busy lately, so I decided it's best if I come and check on you myself "

D:"Lana we both know that's not why you came here so drop the act"

This puzzled Lana it was obvious the old Lana and Derrick's relationship hadn't been the best.

"Is it wrong to come and see my husband because he's been clearly avoiding me" Lana gave him a knowing look.

That was Derrick last straw, he and Lana's marriage had been arranged, at first he thought things could work out and they would develop feelings for each other but Lana had hated him from the very first day she said I do, their marriage was perfect in the public's eye but between them and close relatives it was just public marriage the only time she tolerated his presence was when she needed something and he knew for her to have come to his office she must have needed something but now she was pretending to have come to see him it disgusted him so he went straight forward

"Lana we both know this marriage is just a facade so let's not pretend, tell me what do you need ,is it money again or do you need some investors for you company, let's not drag this"

"My husband Derrick" Lana was flustered at this point "Derrick I want this marriage to work, I can't believe you think money is the only reason why I would come to you"
