Derrick came to the mansion that day in time for dinner. Even Lana was surprised thinking that he didn't believe that she wanted their marriage to work. "Mr. Preston, you're back in time for dinner today I'll prepare the table for you and Misses Preston "Esther, who had welcomed Derrick at the door said with a slight bow, she had practically seen him grow so she wasn't too formal with him and he didn't seem to mind. "Mmm, where is she " he asked referring to Lana. "Madam is in her room, she came back not too long ago"Esther answered. Derrick nodded and headed upstairs he went straight to his room took a shower and came back down for dinner. Lana had who just come downstairs was surprised to see that her visit to his company had paid off, she gave him her brightest smile "You came home early today, have a seat let's have dinner" He sat down barely looking at her, Esther along with some maids served them and left them in silence. "The food is delicious, isn't it" Lana complemented in an attempt to start a conversation, but Derrick ignored her comment since the day they got married and Lana met Esther she had expressed her dislike for her and refused to eat her food and now for some reason unknown to him she said her food was good, to him she was pretending and he wasn't falling for it. Lana knew the relationship between the old Lana and Derrick wasn't Soo good and she didn't expect him to accept her so easily so she didn't take it to heart she just continued eating her food in silence. ....... After dinner they both returned to their rooms without a word to each other. Lana felt like this was worse than when he wasn't home she felt sad, was she going to end up unhappy even with a new life. ........ The next day at the office Lana was sad it was evident that she had a bad night "He hates me " she told Mel "Of course he doesn't, he just can't process the change in you overnight, maybe you should tell him of you amnesia, maybe then he'll believe your change " Mel suggested. "What how can you say that. If I tell him that the change is due to amnesia he'll think it's really not sincere " Lana was devastated. The office was plunged into silence each of them thinking of a better way. "The Gala" Mel exclaimed. "Explain" Lana urged "In the three days a party is going to be held for the biggest businesses in the country, and Mr Preston I'd definitely going to be there if you go and there be his wife it will show him that you really want to be his real wife not just in name. It will also warn all those ladies out to get him that you still have your marriage in your hand" Mel ended with a smile. " That's a good plan but how will Derrick believe me and not think that am just showing off" Mel sighed "Lana you don't remember but ever since you married Mr Preston, you've hated being seen in public with him let alone a gala, am certain it will make him believe you" "Now that I don't know these people attending this gala would expose me wouldn't it" Lana had doubts and was also scared she had never really been to such a party before and she didn't want to embarrass herself and Derrick in the process. "Lana that's why am here, there's nothing to worry about, we have a day I'll get the list of the guests by tomorrow and tell you about all the important people you need to know " By the close of the next day Mel had showed Lana almost all the top business men in the country, she showed her pictures and videos of them, Lana was set to go. ...... On the day of the Gala Lana was very busy, work from the day before had to be taken care of, immediately Lana closed from work Mel called her make up artist to do her makeup and after the makeup Lana was beyond recognition, she looked beautiful, "If Mr Preston doesn't fall for you tonight someone else definitely will" Mel complimented. After, her dress was brought in and Lana couldn't believe it, even by looking at it, it screamed extravagance. After Lana came out of the dressing room the whole room was silent, she looked stunning, the gown hugged her figure very well, the black colour also contrasted of the gown contrasted with her fair and delicate skin making it evenore difficult for anyone to take their eyes off her.
