As Jackie's hands gently held mine, pulling me into a graceful dance, swaying to the warm melody that filled the air, I realized something. This was the first time in five years that I had felt so comfortable, so open. Ever since the personal turmoil in my life, I had always kept my heart closed, keeping a distance from everyone around me, afraid that opening up would only lead to more pain.
But now, as our steps synchronized to the music, all my worries and defenses melted away. Jackie had done something, naturally and without force, to make me feel safe and protected. Each beat of the music seemed to let me forget all my concerns, leaving behind the unhappy memories, allowing only joy and comfort to fill the space I hadn't felt in a long time.
